‎Charmante édition, en anglais, avec lettrines arabisantes, et ornements de page orientalistes représentant des jarres. Les Rubaiyat sont le texte phare du philosophe et mathématicien Omar KHAYYAM. Ecrits au XIe siècle en persan, ils ont été connus en Occident grâce à la traduction anglaise d'Edward FITZGERALD en 1859, que reprend notre ouvrage et sur laquelle se basèrent les autres traductions, notamment celle en français de Franz TOUSSAINT. Willy POGANY (1882-1955) est un illustrateur américain d'origine hongroise après une brève formation, il travaille pour l'éditeur londonien Harrap qui lui commande des illustrations pour des classiques de la littérature féérique il part ensuite aux Etats-Unis où il se fait connaître par ses décors de théâtre il travaille alors pour Warner Brothers et le réalisateur de Woody Woodpecker. Première édition du texte chez Harrap en 1910 ; la page de titre se situe après la page 12 ; infimes usures, brunissures aux pages.‎
