Andersen Hans Christian Retold by Jane Carruth
Hans Andersen's Fairy Stories
London UK: Octopus Books Ltd. 1978. Hardcover. Fine/Very Good . various artists. Collectible Rare with Dust Jacket First published in 1978 by Octopus Books Limited London. This English language edition is licsensed to be sold in the United Kingdom and Commonwealth countries excluding Canada. The book is pristine and only suffers from a soft bump on one corner and has an gift inscription that is dated 'Copenhagen - Summer 1980.' on the illustrated ffep. The dust jacket is shiny bright and complete and would be fine if not for a closed tear 2" at the head of spine and a few tiny perforations on the spine of dj and a little edge wear. The design of the dj is identical to the cover on book a duckling sitting on the edge of a pond crying big tears and wiping one eye with a wing tip. It is very cool because the dust flaps have a continuation of the designs on the inside and back side of covers and endpapers so that they overlap the under designs perfectly seamlessly and almost unnoticeabley. I have not seen that design idea before. This edition by Octopus Books is rare and hard to find especially with a dust jacket and in such a great condition to boot. An oversize book 9 & 1/4" x 11 & 3/4". Every page is a full color illustration with the text worked into it or around it. Various artists are given credit for their work.

Octopus Books Ltd. hardcover
