JAPAN'S MOST FAMOUS ARTIST: KATSUSHIKA Hokusai 1760-1849 was lovingly called "Mad Man on Drawing." He was the best portrayer of Edo period 1604-1868 life culture art customs and impressions of Japan and Japanese life. He remains the most respected and skilled artist of his time. His sense of humor capturing the true nature of the commoners their life style furniture weapons farming activities architecture and pastimes.
