‎1833. No Binding. Near Fine. Elephant Folio - 22" Wide 17" Tall. This the Second Edition of Mitchell's great pocket map of the Tri-state area in New England was printed in 1833 it first appeared in his Folio Atlas "New American Atlas" his First Published Atlas in 1831 with many other maps and as pocket maps in the same year. The plates were purchased from Anthony Finley who produced the actual First of this Atlas in 1826. This particular example is lovely for its bright hand-coloring. It was clearly stored folded for most of its 184 year-old life. It measures 21-3/4" x 17-1/4" while the leather folder is 5-3/8" x 3-1/4". Professionally conserved on the rear with matching paper mending tissue along some of the fold seams due to fragility of the near 200 year old paper it remains in lovely Near Fine condition. The covers are still attached but not so well and still in very good to NF condition. Photos are available. Many areas have changed over the years. Back then NH only had 7 counties and so many other things it is difficult to know where to begin. Please let me know if we can answer any questions.
