Jahrhunderts Sittenprediger u. erster deutscher Satiriker war wohl Laienbruder im Kloster Melk in Niederösterreich. Über Leben u. Persönlichkeit H.s ist nichts bekannt. In einer Handschrift des 14. Jahrhunderts nennt sich der Dichter nur "Heinrich" erwähnt aber einen Abt Erchanfrid. Man vermutet daß damit der Abt gleichen Namens gemeint ist der 1122-1163 dem Kloster Melk vorstand. Im 1. Teil seiner "Erinnerung an den Tod" schildert H. die Verfehlungen der Geistlichen geißelt die ungerechten Richter zeigt die Hoffart des Ritterlebens und führt die Laster aller Stände auf. Der 2. Teil ist ein großes "Memento mori" und mahnt zu rechtzeitiger Buße. Mit schonungsloser Schärfe und eifernder Leidenschaftlichkeit des Bußpredigers greift H. in seiner anderen Dichtung die Priester an und geißelt ihre Völlerei und Unzucht.
