The dust-jacket is a little rough particularly along the edges and at the spine's head and tail. This dj is price-clipped and there is a chip at the top edge/back see image . Front of the dj remains clean and bright. "By The Haddon Craftsmen" appears on the title-page and the period on page 112 has been reset properly making this a second state printing with 1942 MCMIVII being the only publishing year in evidence. This book was requested of Steinbeck by the U.S. Government as an encouragement to the resistance movement in the European theater during WWII. A collectible Steinbeck title . .
