A new edition. In handsome half calf binding with gilt detail to the spine. 'Le Cousin Pons' is one of the last novels of Balzac's multi-volume collection of interlinking novels and short stories. The story follows the life of Sylvian Pons a musician in a Parisian orchestra as he tries to obtain possession of a valuable art collection. A novel of plotting passion and betrayal. Honoré de Balzac was a renowned nineteenth century French novelist and playwright. His works include popular titles such as 'La Vendetta' 'Les Chouans' and 'Vautrin'. In half calf binding with gilt detail. Externally very smart with some rubbing to the extremities. Fading to the spine. A few light marks to the boards. Some light spotting to the reverse of the free endpapers. Internally binding weak. A few pages are loose including the title page. Others could loosen upon further handling.
