This set comprises of: Splendeurs et Miseres des Courtisanes in two volumes containing fourteen illustrations by Gaston Bussiere. Le Cousin Pons containing seven illustrations by Robaudi.Histoire de la Grandeur et de la Decadence de Cesar Birotteau including seven illustrations by Pierre Vidal.Le Pere Goriot including eleven illustrations by Albert Lynch. Each volume contains the original paper wraps bound in. Honore de Balzac 1799-1850 was a nineteenth-century French writer. His works are fine examples of works of realism due to his keep representation of society and norms. His magnum opus is widely considered to be La Comedie Humaine which presented France its post-Napoleonic days. Handsomely bound in half morocco with gilt detailing to the spine. Externally lovely with just a touch of shelf wear. Original paper wraps bound in. Internally firmly bound. Light spotting to the pages.
