Its first home was on Hanover Street near Camden Yards. In 1892 the congregation built the Eutaw Place Temple, designed by architect Joseph Evans Sperry who modeled it after the Great Synagogue of Florence in the fashionable Moorish Revival style

The colors showed the influence of Van Gogh and the impressionists, whom he admired In 1924 he formed and headed an organization that moved 300, 000 Soviet Jews from the ghetto to the rich soil in the Crimea, and he also assisted 80, 000 non-Jewish peasants. For this effort, (Herbert) Hoover congratulated him on one of the outstanding pieces of human engineering in the world today. In 1947, Mr. Rosenberg headed a United States committee that worked for passage of a Genocide Convention, which was unanimously adopted by the United Nations General Assembly the following year.
