‎ZARGANI (Aldo).‎

‎Zdenka Fantlová (Autore), I. Katerinov (Traduttore)‎

‎6 campi. Sopravvissuta a Terezín, Auschwitz, Kurzbach, Gross-Rosen, Mauthausen e Bergen-Belsen‎

‎8vo, pp.303.

‎SUGERENCIAS PARA LA REGULARIZACION DE LAS MIGRACIONES EN LA POSTGUERRA‎

‎Original wraps. 8vo. 19 pages. 23 cm. First Spanish edition. Abridged. Published simultaneously in English as “Post-War Migrations: Proposals for an international agency” (54 pages in length) , the Spanish edition title translates as ‘Suggestions for the Regularization of Post-War Migrations. ’ No citation of translators name. Published under the auspices of the Research Institute on Peace and Post-War Problems of the American Jewish Committee. Introduction by Paul Van Zeeland; this 1943 report intended to situate the reality of massive displacement and post-war migration of refugees and attempts to unite interested parties on a global field to begin preparations for post-war assistance. Settlement of refugees in Latin America would be an important part of the reconstruction of Jewish life after the war, but, ironically, it became the home of many Nazis fleeing post-war Europe as well. Max Gottschalk (1889–1976) , “Belgian social scientist and Jewish leader. […] He directed the Research Institute for Peace and Postwar Problems of the American Jewish Committee (1940–49) and from 1959 the Centre National des Hautes Etudes Juives, financed by the Belgian government. As president of the Belgian Committee for Refugees from Nazi Germany (1933–40) , he was instrumental in the rescue of the passengers from the ship St. Louis, which was sent back from Cuba and finally permitted to land in Antwerp (July 1939) . ” (EJ 2007) Paul Guillaume van Zeeland (11 November 1893 – 22 September 1973) was a Belgian lawyer, economist, Catholic politician and statesman born in Soignies. In 1939, Van Zeeland became president of the Committee on Refugees, established in London, and was made High Commissioner for the repatriation of displaced Belgians in 1944. In 1946, he was one of the founders of the European League for Economic Cooperation. Subjects: Emigration and immigration. Migration, Internal - Europe. World War, 1939-1945 - Refugees. ‎SHIRIM U-POEMOT.‎

‎8vo. 306 pages. In Hebrew. SUBJECT (S) : Hebrew poetry. "[Zeitlin] grew up in Gomel, Vilna, and Warsaw. His early poetic works were lyrical; later, philosophic concepts appeared in his verses, and then followed an attempt to express mystical religious insights within formal rhythmic structures. A philosophic aesthete deeply rooted in Jewish tradition and mysticism, Zeitlin's lyrics are often contemplative liturgic hymns. Well versed in world literature, Zeitlin wrote with equal facility in Hebrew and Yiddish. [In 1926] he became literary editor of the Warsaw Yiddish daily Unzer Ekspres. When [WWII] came, he was saved; in the spring of 1939, Maurice Schwartz invited him to New York for the Yiddish Art Theater's premiere of his play. The war prevented Zeitlin's return to his family, all of whom were killed by the Nazis. As contributor to the New York Yiddish daily Jewish Morning Journal and professor of Hebrew literature at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, Zeitlin profoundly influenced the American Jewish scene after World War II. His Hebrew essays, poems, and lectures during his frequent visits to Israel similarly influenced Hebrew literature. " (EJ, 2007) Has tanned and rubbed dust jacket. ‎Publishers cloth. 8vo. IV, 248 pages. 22 cm. Second edition. In German and Hebrew, with some notes in English and Latin. First volume only, letters A-M. Catalog of modern Hebrew works (1789-1890) . Compiled by William Zeitlin, a “Russian scholar and bibliographer; born at Homel, government of Moghilef, about the middle of the nineteenth century. He is known especially as the author of ‘? Iryat Sefer, ’ or ‘Bibliotheca Hebraica Post-Mendelssohniana’ (Leipsic, 1891-95) , a bibliographical dictionary of modern Hebrew literature from the beginning of Mendelssohn's epoch until 1890. The compilation of this work occupied Zeitlin for twenty years. He made extensive use of Benjacob's ‘O? Ar ha-Sefarim’ and of Fürst's ‘Bibliotheca Judaica, ’ and visited Wilna and Warsaw, the centers of the Hebrew book market, as well as many university cities—as Königsberg, Berlin, Geneva, and Paris—from the libraries of which he gathered additional material for his work. The ‘? Iryat Sefer’ indexes not only works in book form, but also important periodical articles, biographical sketches, and scientific essays, in addition to giving biographical notes on several authors. Zeitlin had previously prepared an index of works written on the Jewish calendar, in which he enumerates seventy-seven Hebrew works; this index was published by ? Ayyim Jonah Gurland in ‘Yevreiski Kalendar’ (St. Petersburg, 1882) . In the ‘Zeit. Für Hebr. Bibl. ’ (ix. 3-4) Zeitlin has recently published an alphabetical list of anagrams and pseudonyms of modern Hebrew writers; and he is a contributor to several Hebrew periodicals, writing mostly biographical articles. ” (1906 Jewish Encyclopedia) Bound in original quarter leather and boards.
