BARUH PINTO.
Annuaire de la diaspora Juive mondiale.
New New English Original binding with original dust wrapper. Oblong large 8vo. (23 x 24 cm). In French. Ills.

The Sephardic onomasticon: An etymological research on Sephardic family names of the Jews living in Turkey.
New New English Original binding with original dust wrapper. Oblong 4to. (22 x 30 cm). In English, French, Hebrew, Ladino, Spanish, and Turkish. [v], [1], 330 p. The Sephardic Onomasticon is an etymological research on Sephardic family names of the Jews living in Turkey. The author's point of departure for trying to establish the etymologies is: he proceeds from the premise that, after biblical times, throughout the the generations, Jews who chose surnames, tended to try and preserve something to remind themselves of the names they had used before, either in their sound or their meaning.

Come scrive l'Envyclopedia Judaica "His books are important as the first comprehensive and truly erudite history of the Jews in the Christian era, filling a gap between early Jewish historical writings and modern Jewish historical research.". Studiò lingue c lassiche a Saumur e successivamente teologia a Ginevra. Rif. Bibl.: Brunet I,691 "Edition la plus complete de ce savant ourage."; Graesse I,307; Ebert 1750.
