‎Première édition collective avec envoi au peintre Marcel Gromaire. Cette édition réunit pour la première fois sous le titre d'Aventure de Catherine Crachat les deux romans Hécate (1928) et Vagadu (1931). Cet exemplaire de service de presse comprend l'envoi : pour le peintre M. Gromaire avec grande estime et sympathie. Pierre Jean Jouve 3 octobre 1947. Marcel Gromaire (Noyelle-sur-Sambre 1892-Paris 1971), peintre et graveur français. Fortement influencé par Cézanne, il a su affirmer un style personnel différent du cubisme. Il obtint de nombreux prix et fonda avec Jean Lurçat la nouvelle école d'Aubusson. Il s'est attaché à représenter la vie des ports, les travaux rustiques, des nus, des paysages urbains (Paris, New-York)… Gromaire fut aussi l'un des grands graveurs de la première moitié du XXe siècle. Il illustra notamment Baudelaire, Aloysius Bretrand, Shakespeare… De la bibliothèque de Pierre Cheymol avec son ex-libris gravé. Médecin, auteur de cinq ouvrages chez José Corti, en particulier des Aventures de la poésie (1988). Il écrivit dans les deux dernières revues surréalistes : le B.L.S. et Surréalisme. Il était très lié avec Jacques Baron, Jean-Louis Bédouin, Vincent Bounoure, Jorge Camacho, Marianne Van Hirtum… Bel exemplaire.‎

Julien Gracq, pseudonimo di Louis Poirier (Saint-Florent-le-Vieil, 27 luglio 1910 – Angers, 22 dicembre 2007), è stato uno scrittore francese. Il suo primo romanzo, Il castello di Argol (Au château d'Argol) del 1948, fortemente influenzato dal romanticismo e dal surrealismo, attirò l'attenzione di André Breton. Ma è solo con La riva delle Sirti (Le rivage des Syrtes) del 1951 e dopo aver rifiutato il premio Goncourt che si fece conoscere al grande pubblico. Tradotto in 26 lingue, studiato in congressi dedicati, pubblicato ancora in vita nella Bibliothèque de la Pléiade, l'opera di Julien Gracq gli è valsa una consacrazione pressoché senza pari tra i suoi contemporanei. La storia del declinante principato di Orsenna, l'atmosfera da fine del mondo che la impregna - e che traspone in mitologia le epoche dell'ascesa del nazismo e della drôle de guerre - lo stile ieratico dell'autore seducono subito la critica, che celebrano il romanzo come controcorrente rispetto a una produzione letteraria dominata dall'etica e dall'estetica dell'esistenzialismo. Il romanzo viene spesso paragonato a Il deserto dei Tartari di Dino Buzzati, di cui la traduzione francese era stata pubblicata qualche tempo prima, ma Gracq negherà sempre di essere stato influenzato da Buzzati, indicando invece come fonte di ispirazione La figlia del capitano di Puškin.
