(Atelier Lacourière pour le tirage de la gravure). Picasso grave en décembre 1943 la planche pour le recueil "Contrée" dédié à Youki qui partageait la vie du poète depuis 1930. L'ouvrage, achevé d'imprimer le 31 Mai 1944, a paru après l'arrestation de Robert Desnos par la Gestapo survenue le 22 février. Desnos mourra en déportation le 8 juin 1945 au camp de Térézine en Tchécoslovaquie. Exceptionnelle gravure "surréaliste" de Picasso. Un poeta dei nostri giorni, Pasquale Di Palmo, dopo aver ordinato e tradotto la prima antologia italiana dei versi di Robert Desnos - La colomba dell'arca (Medusa, 2020) -, ripercorre con rara empatia la vicenda biografica e artistica di questo poeta tra i più importanti e rimossi del Novecento. Desnos diede vita, giusto un secolo fa, alla stagione irripetibile del surrealismo contrassegnata dai sonni ipnotici e dall'écriture automatique, assieme a un manipolo di avventurieri dello spirito che innalzarono a emblema la provocazione e la sfida verso le convenzioni. Questo libro si pone come un prezioso vademecum che accompagna il lettore a conoscerne la figura di scrittore misterioso e geniale, sensibile e amante della libertà, la cui esistenza, pur animata da un'inesauribile joie de vivre, dopo il sodalizio con Breton e i suoi compagni, si chiuse con la morte nel lager nazista di Terezín l'8 giugno 1945.
