He continued to promote and popularise their work through books and articles published until 2007, at times repeating earlier content as required. Bazaar painters and their work were not initially identified as a distinctive genre; Franz Taeschner, the first researcher to publish a selection, felt no need to refer to them as anything other than 'miniatures'. Challenging this trend, Metin And set about the immensely difficult task of obtaining pictures of bazaar painting albums from four corners of the globe in order to illustrate a prolific series of essays and books.The second volume of Ottoman Figurative Arts, Bazaar Painters consists of twelve articles published between 1985 and 2007, a comprehensive introduction by Tülün Degirmenci, and a concise album. The pictures and inscriptions Metin And chased enthusiastically all his life are but the echoing footsteps of a book, one that was either never written, or somehow got lost before it could be published.

For over fifty years, Metin And championed Turkish theatre, traditional performing arts, festivities and the art of Ottoman miniature in dozens of articles and ten titles in Turkish and other languages. The list ends with "Ottoman Figurative Arts I: Miniature", which attests to And's fascination with the subject. A fundamental "art of the book" as well as a courtly art form, miniature favoured a highly realistic depiction of daily life, human beings, the urban fabric and buildings - an aspect promoted widely in And's work. Miniature's main function was illustrating manuscripts. As "Ottoman Figurative Arts I: Miniature" ably demonstrates, the target audience was either the sultan, or high-ranking statesmen. Manuscripts so illustrated were prohibitively costly works of art, safeguarded in the Treasury, and any illustrated manuscript captured in battle would have delighted the victorious commander and sultan equally. Metin Eloglu was a mediator poet-painter between two major literary movements known as Garip and Ikinci Yeni in Turkish literature, with his poetry featuring both realistic and imagistic elements. Eloglu published his first piece, which was a short story, in 1942, while his initial poems came out in the following years. As a painter, he liked to work on urban compositions. Some of his paintings had titles like "Çikmaz Sokak" [i.e. The Dead End] and "Gecekondu Sofrasi" [i.e. The Slum Dinner]. He won some moderate prizes for his paintings; however, especially after becoming a famous poet of the modernist era, he would always be remembered as a poet rather than a painter.
