Cartonnage éditeur de percaline bleue, titre doré sur le dos et le 1er plat, celui entièrement orné d'une belle composition polychrome, tranches brique. Abondante et belle illustration en couleurs, pratiquement à chaque page et 1 planche double centrale, toutes évoquant des épisodes de l'histoire de France, de la Préhistoire à la veille de la Révolution. Manque de dorure sur le "N" du 1er plat, petits défauts en bordure du cartonnage, intérieur frais, complet. Bel exemplaire, cartonnage décoratif.‎

‎Paris, Charavay, Martin, éditeurs, s. d. [1900], 1 vol. in-folio (35,7 x 29 cm), non-paginé [40 f., faux-titre et titre inclus]. Histoire romancée de la France où se mêlent patriotisme et exaltation des valeurs morales et identitaires. Les différents théâtres de guerre émaillant l'histoire française au cours du XIXème siècle sont expliqués. Les émotions, celles du peuple et celles des hommes au pouvoir, ont une large place. Georges Montorgeuil, pseudonyme d'Octave Lebesgue (1857-1933) : journaliste, auteur et éditeur parisien. Job, Jacques Onfroy de Bréville, (dit) (1858-1931) : dessinateur, caricaturiste français. Dessins d'un grand raffinement graphique et coloré : subtiles couleurs, parfois intenses, parfois pastels. De très nombreux détails précisent les tenues vestimentaires, lieux de vie, etc. ainsi que la physionomie des personnes, parfois peu flatteuse.‎

‎Emboîtage d'éditeur pleine percaline vert bronze (existe une version avec toile bleue) avec un large décor polychrome estampé au premier plat et titre doré au dos. Trois tranches cirées rouge brique. Double-gardes de papier bleu uni. État de conservation: abrasions modérées du décor au plat supérieur, nombreuses variations dans la teinte de la percaline, un débord de colle a anciennement abîmé une illustration sur les feuillets faisant liaison entre le premier et le deuxième cahier. En dépit de ces points, bel état général : couture solide, feuillets intacts, couleurs fraîches, percaline complète. Papier fort sans déchirures, ni rousseurs (traces de doigts ? sporadiques). Ouvrage complet. Compositions double-page et rapport texte/image impressionnent l'oeil.‎

‎Rare exemplaire en très bon état de ce bel album merveilleusement illustré par Job. Bon exemplaire (infimes usures ou défauts, très bon état par ailleurs, exemplaire très solide). Pour les Etats-Unis d'Amérique, on y trouvera "Hail, Columbia" qui fut considéré comme l'un des hymnes nationaux américains jusqu'en 1931, date à laquelle "The Star-Spangled Banner" fut établi comme hymne officiel. On y trouve aussi les hymnes de la Perse, de l'Abyssinie, du Siam, de la Chine, etc...‎
