This is a sale catalog for an auction held at Sotheby Parke Bernet in Monaco on February 14, 1983. The sale consisted of several collections of antique 'papiers peints' or painted wallpapers and painted textiles. Lots 1 through 85 are from the Collection de la Maison Maigret, 114 lots in the Collection Vital-Durand from Lyon. The themes of the painted papers range from still lifes with floral motifs, neo-classical architectural decorations, some figures from myth, like Cupid and Psyche, Le Jardin d'Armide painted by Edouard Muller. Many examples illustrated in black & white (over 80) + 12 color plates. Estimates for each lot. No prices realized sheet. 10" high X 7" wide, 76 pages.

First and only edition of this monograph on this little island (now part of the 9th arrondissement of Lyon) in the SaÙne. 32 pp. The Ile Barbe has been inhabited since ancient times, an abbey was built there in the fifth century, and Charlemage endowed it with a rich collection of manuscripts in the ninth. As mentioned on the title-page, the final pages provide a catalogue of these extremely early medieval manuscripts (22 manuscripts described.) 8vo. Original wraps. Entirely uncut, fine, and bright. Very rare, especially in such pristine condition.

Trace d'humidité en marge sans grande gravité, exemplaire un peu court de marge en partie supérieure sur les dernières pages, un petit manque de papier sans perte de texte en marge des deux premières pages. L'auteur, Jurisconsulte, né et mort à Montbrison était Avocat au Présidial de Lyon, Avocat du Roi au Présidial puis Baillage de Montbrison. Publié à l'occasion de la visite royale de Louis XIII à Lyon à la faveur de laquelle la ville aura engagé de lourdes dépenses pour des cérémonies somptueuses.Très bon exemplaire de cet ouvrage rare, non signalé dans Brunet.
