In 4° 21x15 cm; 58 pp. Legatura in cartoncino rigido di inizi del XX secolo con bei motivi in rosso e blu e fascetta in pelle rossa con titolo impresso in oro al dorso. Xilografia al frontespizio. Con Mano uscente da una nuvola, innaffia un vaso con un alberello. In cornice. Motto su cartiglio: Sperandum, et ferendum). Prima rara edizione, tre sole copie censite in ICCU, di questo importante scritto del grande chirurgo lucchese Pietro Paoli celebre per le sue operazoni di litotomia per il quale venne chiamato in tutta Italia. L’opera risponde ad alcune critiche che un altro celebre medico originario di Preci in provincia di Perugia, Antonio Benevoli aveva rivolto al Poli. Benevoli era specializzato nella cura degli occhi e nelle amputazioni degli arti, a Bologna operò il cardinale Michelangelo Conti rimuovendogli le cataratte che lo affliggevano. Salito al soglio pontificio, Papa Innocenzo XIII lo nominò, per breve periodo, suo archiatra. Ed è proprio in materia oftalmogica che si sviluppa la discussione. Opera rara ed in buone-ottime condizioni di conservazione.

Gora al margine inferiore presente da pagina 265 e piu' intensa agli ultimi fogli ed in particolare alle due carte di sguardia bianche finali. Legatura in piena pergamena coeva con piatto anteriore leggermente imbarcato. Edizione originale di questo trattato sulle malattie degli occhi e sull'operazione della cataratta. Guerin (1740-1827), chirurgo all'Hotel Dieu di Lione, propose in quest'opera una modifica dell'operazione di estrazione della cataratta con uno strumento da lui stesso ideato, raffigurato nella bella tavola incisa. br. La scienza dell'oftalmologia moderna prevede la risoluzione dei difetti visivi: tale branca dell'oculistica è chiamata chirurgia refrattiva. Questo libro rappresenta, un excursus sulla natura della luce (fotoni) che, veicolata sull'occhio, sta rivelando effetti secondari permanenti anche per la nostra salute cellulare in senso lato. In conseguenza della teoria di Fritz-Albert Popp, che ha dimostrato l'esistenza dei biofotoni come fonte di energia di scambio cellulare, la tesi di Roberto Pinelli si inoltra in una appassionante riflessione: i fotoni hanno tutte le caratteristiche per poter agire anche "oltre" l'occhio e "tramite" l'occhio per alimentare ulteriormente il rifornimento cellulare elettrochimico del nostro corpo.

Legatura coeva pieno cuoio, dorso a nervi con fregi e titolo oro (restauri alle cerniere). Terza edizione, dopo la prima di Amsterdam 1632 e la seconda di Lovanio 1658, edita in folio per la prima volta e con aggiunta di vari nuovi capitoli sulle malattie dell'occhio. Il danese Plemp (o Plempius, 1601-1671) si laureò medico a Bologna nel 1624. Inizialmente fu lui il primo e maggiore oppositore delle teorie ottiche di Kepler e di Darwin, ma poi si conciliò con quelle facendo totale voltafaccia e sostenendo la dottrina della circolazione del sangue. Il trattato non si limita a trattare le malattie dell'occhio ma pure la sua anatomia e la visione. Discreto esemplare (margine esterno dei primi tre fogli restaurato).. Prima non comune edizione italiana di questo studio medico-oftalmologico, opera del celebre medico Joseph Jacob Von Plenck (Gorizia o Vienna, 28 novembre 1738 – 24 agosto 1807 Monaco di Baviera). L’opera raccogli le esperienze di Plenck legate alle malattie degli occhi con descrizione delle patologie, indicazioni farmaceutiche per la loro cura e descrizione degli interventi chirurgici da effettuarsi. L’autore fu un celebre medico austriaco considerato il fondatore della dermatologia moderna. Figlio di un rilegatore di Vienna, studiò medicina e, ancora non ottenuta l’abilitazione, servì nella guerra dei sette anni come chirurgo di reggimento. Nel 1770 fu nominato, da Maria Teresa d’Austria, professore di chirurgia e ostetricia presso l’Università di Trnava, e poi di Budapest. Dal 1785 ricoprì la carica di professore di chimica e botanica presso la Accademia Militare di medicina a Vienna (Josephinum). Considerato il fondatore della moderna dermatologia fu uno dei più importanti scrittori scientifici del suo tempo. A partire dal 1788 iniziarono ad uscire i volumi di quella che è considerata la sua opera più celebre, divisa in sette parti, l’ “Icones plantarum medicinalium” dove descrisse l’uso medico di tutte le erbe conosciute (l’opera era illustrata da 758 stampe botaniche). Plenck lavorò utilizzando il nuovo sistema di classificazione botanica di Linneo (1707-1778) . Non comune ed in buone-ottime condizioni di conservazione e ancora in barbe.
