2 VINTAGE EASTER POSTCARDS WITH CHILDREN ILLUSTRATIONS WITH 1916 POSTMARK ON ONE
G. circa 1916. Vintage postcards. Good plus condition with light normal handling and age showing. One postcard has linen finish and shows a little boy sitting under a large umbrella watching chicks being hatched. Backside states printed in Germany. No address or stamp. States needs one cent stamp to send. Penciled note is pale and hard to read. Postcard has a small crease on left and all edges who a bit of open wear. Basic colors are dark blue with turquoise umbrella. Other card is light yellow and white showing an illustration of a young girl walking away and carrying 2 baskets filled with eggs as she passes a bunny and 2 chicks. Corners have little creases and some edge wear. Postmarked 1916 and addressed to Miss Lucille Pelton in Fulton NY Oswego County from George Doris and Joan. Stamp is gone. The Four-Legged Municipality: Street Dogs of Istanbul exhibition focuses on street dogs that were regarded as the inhabitants of the city from the conquest through early nineteenth century, and on the transformation of their status in the Tanzimat Period as a result of the changing political and social conditions. In the exhibition catalogue, it is possible to find first the adventure of street dogs in the late Ottoman period, and then the story of their purging to Hayirsizada (Sivriada) in 1910. The catalogue also features articles by curator Ekrem I¿¿n and counsellor Catherine Pinguet presenting a general overview of the subject alongside a selection of photographs, engravings, books, and journals from the Photography Collection of Suna and ¿nan K¿raç Foundation, Pierre de Gigord Collection, Galeri Alfa Collection.

San Francisco CA. Very Good. 1940. Other. Color Illustrations; This is the deckle edge version of the postcard with medium yellow background. The postcard is in Very Good condition and has no creasing or wrinkles. The reverse side is clean and unused. "After being processed on Ellis Island Giuseppe worked his way across America eventually settling near Rosalia's father in Pittsburg California on the east side of the San Francisco Bay Area. After four years he earned enough money to send to Italy for Rosalia and their daughter who was born after he had left for the United States. Giuseppe hoped that his five sons would become fishermen. DiMaggio recalled that he would do anything to get out of cleaning his father's boat as the smell of dead fish nauseated him. Giuseppe called him "lazy" and "good-for-nothing." DiMaggio did not finish his education at Galileo High School and instead worked odd jobs including hawking newspapers stacking boxes at a warehouse and working at an orange juice plant." . unknown

HAWAII FLORAL PARADE PHOTO POSTCARDS.
This exceptional group of seven Real Photo Postcards chronicle the Honolulu Hawaii ninth annual Floral Parade in 1914 including images of the downtown parade route with McInerny’s Shoes and surrounding buildings bedecked in patriotic bunting and flags several floats including the Honolulu Fire Department’s first motorized fire engine and even the Iolani Palace lit up with lights.
Honolulu H.T.: n.p. ca. 1914. Seven Real Photo Postcards all printed on split-back CYKO photo postcard stock and stamp box w/ outline CYKO imprint indicating 1906-1915 dating slight edgewear very slight dustsoiling still NF set of images. This scarce group of Real Photo Postcards chronicle some of the floats and events from the 1914 Floral Parade held on the 8th day of Carnival Feb. 21 1914 with the parade forming at Aala Park in the afternoon. The first shows bustling crowds a cleared street men women and families lined up along the street as the parade passes down the corner from McInerny’s Shoe Store with store front and window displays clearly shown in downtown Honolulu. The next series of cards depict the pyramid of children sitting on the Lincoln-Lee Legion float touting their lifelong temperance pledges to abstain from alcohol a large model wooden ship on the Inter-Island Transportation float another showing Lady Liberty on a Spanish War veterans float; along with a RPPC of the Honolulu Fire Department Engine Co. No. 1’s first motorized fire engine what appears to be a 1910 Knox High Pressure Hose Wagon fitted with ladders on the side cab-over configuration and large Brass lamps in front fitted with ladders and firemen riding in the parade. The RPPC of the Iolani Palace lit up at night with floodlights bringing out the architectural details and revealing all of the windows draped in American flags. n.p., unknown
