The set is complete with its cellophanes its dust jackets except for the second volume and its slipcases. Our copy is also complete with its 6 folding genealogical tables of the houses of Bouillon Bourbon Condé Conti Elbeuf Guise Soissons Lorraine Rohan Le Tellier which are discussed in the ""Mémoires"" of the Duke de Saint-Simon. Tall 8vo 9.5 x 6.5 inches in modern ca. 1930s binding of quarter midnight blue morocco over patterned boards raised bands gilt stamped on spine very good spine color has mellowed slightly to a dark brown. Original dark gray front cover cover wrap bound in some wear and soil but not the rear one; contents very good faint yellow foxing throughout. 411 pp. In 1721 he was appointed ambassador extraordinary to Spain so as to facilitate the marriage of Louis XV and Infanta Mariana Victoria of Spain which however never took place. In Spain he did however secure a grandeesh which later devolved upon his second son and despite having caught smallpox he was quite satisfied with his efforts there: two ducal titles grandees were recognised in France as dukes. This was recently removed from our listings on by the company's moronic Thought Police despite this having nothing offensive about it.
