Reliure demi veau fauve, dos lisse orné, pièce de titre noire. reliure légèrement usée sinon bon exemplaire.Louis Le Gendre ou Legendre dans certaines bibliographies modernes, né à Rouen en 1655 et mort à Paris le 1er février 1733, est un historien français et chanoine de Notre-Dame de Paris. Brillant écolier, protégé dès son enfance par l'archevêque de Rouen, François de Harlay, se montra reconnaissant et dévoué à son protecteur qui l'emmena avec lui quand il fut appelé à l'archevêché de Paris en 1670, où Le Gendre fut fait chanoine de Notre-Dame de Paris.xIl est l'auteur de plusieurs ouvrages historiques. N'ayant à sa mort que des collatéraux à un degré très éloigné pour héritiers d'une fortune qu'il ne tenait pas de sa famille et qu'il devait entièrement à son érudition, il consacra aux lettres et aux arts le fruit de ses économies. Élevé à Rouen par la charité, enrichi et reconnu à Paris, il fit de ces deux villes ses héritières. Son legs le plus fameux, cependant, est celui qu'il fit à lUniversité de Paris, et qui est à l'origine du Concours général.‎

In-4 relié plein veau de l'époque, dos à cinq nerfs très orné, pièce de titre de maroquin rouge. 2 feuillets blancs, titre, portrait de George Cardinal d'Amboise, 5 feuillets non chiffrés, portrait de Ludovicus Le Gendre, 564 pages, 1 feuillet blanc. bandeaux dont un de Louis XV enfant et lettrines. Bien complet de la planche dépliante représentant le tombeau du Cardinal d'Amboise dans l'Eglise de Rouen. Contient de nombreuses pièces justificatives notamment sur la Cloche appelée George d'Amboise, mise en service le 16 février 1502 en l' Eglise de Rouen et la généalogie de la maison d'Amboise. Coins inférieurs un peu émoussés, une tache d'humidité claire en marge supérieure, petit manque de cuir en queue. Exemplaire armorié aux deux plats, fers dorés aux armes de François Emmanuel Joseph de BAVIERE, Marquis de VILLACERF, dit Le Chevalier puis Le Comte de BAVIERE. 2 ex-libris : Baron de MACKAU et DELALEU ce dernier gravé par François MONTULAY. Bon exemplaire malgré les petits défauts signalés.‎
