As Jon Savage has written in his definitive ENGLAND'S DREAMING: "In the intimate setting of the 100 Club the group could relax enough to take risks with their material and their performances. There they began to master their equipment using the acoustics of the small club to experiment with overload feedback and distortion. Electric amplification had provided much of the excitement of early Rock'n'Roll: pushing their equipment to the limit . the Sex Pistols twisted their limited repertoire into a noise as futuristic as their rhetoric" 177. The club also served as location for the famed 100 Club Punk Special a two-day festival featuring the Pistols The Damned The Buzzcocks The Clash Siouxsie and the Banshees and other unsigned acts an event that was instrumental in bringing punk to the mainstream. It was also at the 100 Club pogoing was first invented a development often attributed to Sid Vicious but more likely simply fans' practical response to poor visibility in the tight confines of the club. Describing the June 29th date of which bootlegs exist Savage writes: "But the 100 Club take is something else. Here the Pistols are wound up to a pitch of impossible tautness: they swoop and drive through their fifteen songs more than half of all they would ever play in their brief life." This performance also almost certainly marked the first public performance of "Flowers of Romance." In addition the July 6 date is significant the first �real� show by The Damned who opened. Together two landmark performances for the group that defined British punk rock. While Reid's more commercial work for the Pistols appears with some regularity early and ephemeral promotional items like this are decidedly more scarce. And after Reid's iconic "God Save the Queen" flyer arguably the defining Sex Pistols handbill perfectly combining the raw energy of the group with Reid's signature punk style. This copy has a scrap of paper with the authors name and address handwritten by Scrivener attached to the inside of the front cover. After Anarchy: Surrey: Tony Scrivener 2003. Exclusive box set edition complete which includes a presentation box brown card box with After Anarchy graphics affixed to one side 31 by 31 cm the After Anarchy book staple-bound wraps 21 by 29.8 cm 70 2 pp. illus. a Pistols family tree a promotional poster 33 by 48.5 cm folded a promo flyer a certificate of authenticity and a printed card folder to hold all the materials. All are in very good condition with a few small corner creases and bumps. The box has creasing on one edge from being squished a bit at some point. Every piece in the box set is signed by Scrivener. Agents of Anarchy was a labor of loveor a complete obsessionthat tracked the members of the Sex Pistols and all the bands they were members of from their final Winterland gig in 1978 to 1986 including PiL the Rich Kids Greedy Bastards and The Professionals and even Bananarama Paul Cook was a session drummer for them and Iggy Pop Glen Matlock played bass for Pops band while on tour in 1979. Arranged chronologically in brief diary-like entries many of the notes are simply concert dates i.e. 13 November 1983 / PiL: Birmingham Odeon but many are more detailed like10 October 1978Sid and Nancy probably give their last photo session at the Chelsea Hotel. In one photo Sid holds the knife which brought about Nancys death a few days later.4 November 1978Sid Vicious is interviewed in New York jail.19 July 1986Full page adverts appear in the music press for Love Kills Joe Strummer taken from the Sid and Nancy movie soundtrack.July 1989Outrageous Artistic Freedom Exhibit at Young Unknowns Gallery London SE1. Jamie Reid displays some work there.The timeline is followed by a detailed discography of the Sex Pistols PiL and related bands. Heavily illustrated with some wonderful uncommon images. While Agents is a common book After AnarchyScriveners self-published follow upis quite scarce. The book itself is an expanded version of Agents with additional and more detailed entries that extend into 1996 a new introduction an updated discography and short where-are-they-now-type pieces. While this volume isnt as profusely illustrated as its predecessor it does have several current images of buildings that were in the day used as Pistols rehearsal spaces flats concert halls press shoot locales etc. Like a stalkers notebook After Anarchy is the ultimate guide to the day-by-day life of the Pistols and their friends. <br /><br /> paperback

Brighton: Self-published 2006. SIGNED by the photographer. From Ian Dickson's 'Collector's Series'; a range of handmade box sets each title containing seven hand-printed images in signed mounts; offered in Standard Digital or DeLuxe best edition. 'Notre Dame' seven silver gelatine hand-printed photographic prints of the Pistols at the recording of their "No Fun" TV Special filmed at the Notre Dame Assembly Hall in Soho London on the 15th of November 1976. The gig was set up to be filmed for Janet Street-Porter's London Weekend Show. The audience included Shane MacGowan Joe Strummer Toyah Wilcox Poly Styrene TV Smith Siouxsie Jamie Reid Vivienne Westwood who danced on stage unaware that the gig was being filmed and also one Nancy Spungeon. This is the superior De Luxe edition which uses fibre-based prints instead of resin-coated in hinged archival mounts instead of standard mounts. Each print is signed by the photographer on the mount. This is copy no.4 of an unspecified edition number perhaps fewer than 15 examples the series now having been discontinued by the publisher due to production costs and time constraints. Housed in an illustrated clamshell box charmingly home-made by Dickson himself with a numbered certificate affixed to the underside of the lid. The highly individual cover art is by famed cartoonist/illustrator Ray Lowry and a short but entertaining biography of the photographer 'Hired Gun' also with Lowry-designed cover completes the attractive package. Minor wear to box. A fine copy. Ian Dickson has been photographing rock stars since 1972 and his work has appeared in Disc Record Mirror New Musical Express Sounds Vox Mojo Q Rolling Stone and elsewhere. His first exhibition was in London in 1992 and several successful European shows followed. In 1994 a selection of his work was shown at the MTV Awards in Berlin at the Brit Awards at Alexandra Palace and at the World Music Awards in Monte Carlo and Copenhagen. A feature on his portfolio was published in the March 1995 issue of Q magazine and in August that year he was recognised by the 'Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum' who included his famous Rod Stewart 'pyjama' portrait; this was followed by an Eric Clapton and a Muddy Waters portrait added in February 2000. London: Commies From Mars / Initial Pictures 1985. Third Draft script for the 1986 film "Sid and Nancy" here under the working title "Love Kills." INSCRIBED by Kate Simon in holograph ink on the verso of the last page of text. Simon was "a friend of Alex Cox's and she helped him vis a vis the fine details of the 'time of the Sex Pistols' in London in 1976 / To that end she showed him in London the pub where we hung out took sulphate the Roebuck and she also tried to set up a meeting with him and Johnny Thunders / Finally she is thanked at the end of 'Sid and Nancy' and she photographed him as he was writing the script there at the room in the Chelsea Hotel where Sid and Nancy lived / Kate Simon / 4-8-09." Brilliant but gritty biographical look at Sid Vicious Oldman bassist for the British punk band Sex Pistols and his girlfriend Nancy Webb. Their relationship is sprinkled with guilt sympathy and copious drug use implying Nancy introduced Sid to heroin when she traveled to London to have sex with the Sex Pistols. The two fall in love commit to a suicide pact and try to start a new solo career in New York after the breakup of the band. One night in a drug-induced stupor Sid announces his intention to quit heroin and move back to London prompting a suicidal Nancy to beg him to kill her. Perhaps unintentionally perhaps not Sid stabs Nancy and she dies in the bathroom. Set in London and New York shot there on location and in New Jersey California and France. The soundtrack boasts songs by Dan Wool The Pogues John Cale KC & The Sunshine Band and several Sex Pistols songs with the title track "Love Kills" by Joe Strummer. Two Football Magazines With Early Sex Pistols Advertisements
United Kingdom 1976. Softcover. Near Fine. Two programs. Octavos. Stapled pictorial wrappers. Near fine or better with only a bit of wear along the spine. Two English football programs from 1976 Manchester City F.C. Match Mag and Ipswich Town that include two of the earliest examples of the Jamie Reid-designed Sex Pistol adverts one full page and one half page for the Pistol's infamous Anarchy in the U.K. tour. Both are dated December 4 1976 just three days after the Pistol's first run-in with the press after famously cursing on a live evening broadcast of Thames Television's Today program. And like that appearance these ads demonstrated the media savvy of both the Pistols and their manager Malcolm McLaren who knew that a concert audience of football hooligans was far more likely to generate press coverage. It is well-established that many of the early instigators of the punk scene were football fans as evidenced by the influence of football zines on music zines and their occasional commingling. At the very least the ads are prima facia evidence of McLaren's brilliant and unusual marketing of the tour that brought punk into the public eye. paperback

INSCRIBED by Kate Simon in holograph ink on the verso of the last page of text. <br/><br/>Simon was "a friend of Alex Cox's and she helped him vis a vis the fine details of the 'time of the Sex Pistols' in London in 1976 / To that end she showed him in London the pub where we hung out took sulphate the Roebuck and she also tried to set up a meeting with him and Johnny Thunders / Finally she is thanked at the end of 'Sid and Nancy' and she photographed him as he was writing the script there at the room in the Chelsea Hotel where Sid and Nancy lived / Kate Simon / 4-8-09." <br/><br/>Brilliant but gritty biographical look at Sid Vicious Oldman bassist for the British punk band Sex Pistols and his girlfriend Nancy Webb. Their relationship is sprinkled with guilt sympathy and copious drug use implying Nancy introduced Sid to heroin when she traveled to London to have sex with the Sex Pistols. The two fall in love commit to a suicide pact and try to start a new solo career in New York after the breakup of the band. One night in a drug-induced stupor Sid announces his intention to quit heroin and move back to London prompting a suicidal Nancy to beg him to kill her. Perhaps unintentionally perhaps not Sid stabs Nancy and she dies in the bathroom. <br/><br/>Set in London and New York shot there on location and in New Jersey California and France. From Ian Dickson's 'Collector's Series'; a range of handmade box sets each title containing seven hand-printed images in signed mounts; offered in Standard Digital or DeLuxe best edition. 'A Box of Punks' comprises seven silver gelatine prints of punk bands; the images contained within the box set are all original hand-printed photographs made from negatives taken for 'Sounds' magazine at the height of the punk-rock movement November 1976-October 1977; this is the superior DeLuxe edition which uses fibre-based prints instead of resin-coated in hinged archival mounts instead of standard mounts. This is copy no.14 of an unspecified edition number likely fewer than 20 examples the series now having been discontinued by the publisher due to production costs and time constraints. The mounted photographs are contained in archival quality polyester sleeves with a frame dimension of 11 x 14 inches. Housed in a custom-made illustrated clamshell box charmingly home-made by Dickson himself with a numbered certificate affixed to the underside of the lid. The highly individual cover art is by famed cartoonist/illustrator Ray Lowry and a short but entertaining biography of the photographer 'Hired Gun' also with Lowry-designed cover completes the attractive package. Ian Dickson has been photographing rock stars since 1972 and his work has appeared in Disc Record Mirror New Musical Express Sounds Vox Mojo Q Rolling Stone and elsewhere. His first exhibition was in London in 1992 and several successful European shows followed. In 1994 a selection of his work was shown at the MTV Awards in Berlin at the Brit Awards at Alexandra Palace and at the World Music Awards in Monte Carlo and Copenhagen. A feature on his portfolio was published in the March 1995 issue of Q magazine and in August that year he was recognised by the 'Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum' who included his famous Rod Stewart 'pyjama' portrait; this was followed by an Eric Clapton and a Muddy Waters portrait added in February 2000. One of 5000 copies of the debut single with the producer miscredited as Chris Thomas it was actually Dave Goodman. Reportedly only the first 2000 were issued in the black sleeve to disguise the content. The only recording by The Sex Pistols to be released by EMI before the record company dropped them in 1977.
