London: December 8 1875. 1875. Good. - Letter filling one side of a black-bordered approximately 7 inch high by 4-1/2 inch wide sheet of letterhead with his Clapham address printed at the top. The letter is mounted on a sheet of paper of the same size & there is offsetting from the glue to the top bottom & right hand edges of the letter. There is also a small stain to the 4th line of the letter. Folded twice for mailing. Good. <p>Mursell writes to an unidentified recipient about a visit to Otley in West Yorkshire near Leeds probably to give a lecture. The letter opens "All right - 'Livingstone". Presumably the subject of the lecture. He goes on; "I can't walk having sprained my ankle -- so I fear it would be awkward for me to try to get back to Leeds that night -- tho' I should have liked to do so." He writes he will stay at a hotel near the station and get a morning train.</p><p>Arthur Mursell 1831-1914 was a British theologian nonconformist minister lecturer and author.</p> [London]: December 8, 1875.

Slightly soiled with minor glue stains. Good. <p>The English nonconformist theologian Arthur Mursell 1831-1914 was virulently opposed to labor unions. Speaking of labor leaders Mursell wrote "during times of strike . while setting up as working men they appear before their dupes well fed and clothed their food and clothing obtained out of the incidental profits of the very strikes they foster and protract while men women and children are lean hungry and half-naked through taking their advice."</p> Circa [1880's]. hardcover

Very good. RARE. First edition. A MASTERPIECE OF PHOTO-CHROMOLITHOGRAPHY. "The authors of this book were senior doctors at the Hôpital Saint-Louis. Besnier presided over the 4th International Congress of Dermatologists held in Paris in 1900. The museum had been founded by Devergie in 1865. During his 25 year long career Devergie commissioned water colour paintings of the major skin diseases for use in his lectures. It was not long before these were supplemented by photographs and moulages. Between 1867 and 1894 the Italian moulage artist M. Baretta 1834-1925 produced 1800 such models. He devised the internal colouring technique. This is a technique whereby the colours are applied in between the layers of wax. The effect is one of transparency and greater similarity to the colour of human skin Zanca and Tagliavini. The various separate lesions have been portrayed exceptionally well. Less attention was paid to facial expressions. The museum now has a collection of 4667 moulages at its disposal Dahm. The finest among them were reproduced in this book.
