Consisting of: 'The Book Of Common Prayer.'; 'The Holy Bible.' with maps; 'Alphabetical Index Of The Holy Scriptures.'; and ' A New Version Of The Psalms Of David.' 18pp./pp.148/12pp./pp.586/2pp./pp.188/pp.40/pp.75/3pp. . Polished black calf corners rubbed and bumped. Spine with 4 raised bands and gilt titles: "Holy Bible - Common Prayer". Marbled Endpapers. Neat dedication to front endpaper: "Evelyn Pulcherie Chapman from her Godmother A. M. C. August 2nd. 1863." The silver clasps are hallmarked for London 1863 the maker is Henry and Henry John Lias. Edward John Granet was born in August 1858 in Italy. He was educated at Eton and joined the Royal Artillery CDA 11th Division in 1878. He married Evelyn Pulcherie Chapman 1864-1933 and they had one child: Guy Edward Augustus Granet born in Ipswich 1887-1953. Guy had a distinguished military career receiving both the MC and DSO. His father; E. J. Granet saw service in Afghanistan Egypt and South Africa he then became a Military Attache serving in Stockholm Rome and Berne from 1911 until 1915. While in Gallipoli 1915 he was injured by shell splinters at Suvla Bay. He retired to Berne Switzerland for his convalescence and was promoted to Brigadier General 1915. However he died from his injuries 3 years later on 22nd October 1918 and was buried at Vevey St. Martin's Cemetery . He was awarded the Companion of The Most Honourable Order of the Bath CB. and was a member of Ubique Lodge No. 1789 the Masonic lodge of "the gunners" a military lodge of the province of London. Evelyn Pulcherie Chapman was born 1864 in Sunningdale Berkshire. She married Edward John Granet in 1885. Her Godmother was Adeline Mary Chapman 1847-1931. ‎Grasser was a German Luftwaffe fighter ace and Knight's Cross recipient who flew 700 combat missions on the Western and Eastern fronts and North Africa claiming 103 downed enemy aircraft; Leppa was a fellow Luftwaffe ace also a Knight's Cross recipient who flew more than 500 missions and is credited with shooting down 68 enemy aircraft. High quality modern black and white print an informal half-length war-date shot of Leppla and Grasser chatting in front of what appears to be a large government building. ‎Dans la nuit du 16 au 17 juillet 1918, dans la maison d'Ipatiev, en la petite ville sibérienne d'Ekaterinbourg, l'empereur Nicolas II hier encore maître de toutes les Russies, son épouse, son fils – un hémophile de quatorze ans –, ses quatre filles et les derniers courtisans du malheur étaient assassinés. C'est la version officielle de cette tuerie. étrangement, elle fut également admise par les Blancs et par les Rouges. Des ouvrages ont tenté d'accréditer la survie d'un ou de plusieurs membres de la famille impériale. Et la fameuse Madame Anderson qui affirmait être la Grande Duchesse Anastasia, rescapée du massacre, a trouvé de nombreux partisans. En reprenant toute l'enquête, en dépouillant des archives inexplorées, en confrontant tous les témoignages, Marina Grey, rompue aux investigations historiques, parvient à résoudre l'énigme qui subsistait. ‎Qui a tué Raspoutine ? A cette question personne ne pouvait apporter une réponse définitive avant l'ouverture des archives ex-soviétiques. Marina Grey, forte de l'aide des académiciens et des archivistes russes donne les résultats de sa minutieuse enquête. Ainsi se trouvent dissipés les mystères et résolues les contradictions ayant entouré jusqu'ici le meurtre de Raspoutine. La suppression du staretz, assez audacieux pour être devenu un favori de Nicolas II et, plus encore, de l'impératrice Alexandra, pouvait-elle sauver le régime impérial ou bien a-t-elle constitué le prélude de sa chute ? L'affaire Raspoutine, loin de ressortir à l'anecdote, relève de la grande Histoire. Marina Grey, dont les travaux sur les contre-révolutions française et russe ont été consacrés par de nombreux prix dont ceux de l'Académie Française et de la Ville de Paris, fille du dernier régent de Russie – le lieutenant général Dénikine – apporte avec cet ouvrage une nouvelle preuve de ses qualités d'historienne et fait revivre un monde disparu : la Cour, la Ville, l'Administration, les Moujiks.
