Ma lui ancora una volta si arrabbiò e sbatté la porta. Però, poco dopo, tornò con un foglietto dove c'era scritto l'indirizzo della sua casa a Lodz e lo dette al nipote come un ordine o un'eredità. Questo racconto è la storia di dove quel foglietto ha finalmente portato Eduardo: in Polonia, nelle vecchie strade di Lodz.

B/w ills. Halit Ziya Usakligil was born in Istanbul in 1865. He went to primary school and then attended the secondary school Fatih Rustiyesi in the same city. His family moved to Izmir in 1879. He completed his secondary education in Izmir attending the school which now is known as Izmir Atat�rk Lisesi. He later attended a Christian school to learn French where he completed his first translation works. Usakligil founded the newspaper Hizmet in 1886. After 1896 his works were published in the Turkish literary journal Servet-i F�nun known for its adoption of European literary styles. When his novel Kirik Hayatlar Broken Lives was censored by the Ottoman Regime in 1901 he stopped publishing novels. Broken Lives could only be published in 1923 after the establishment of modern Turkey. Usakligil's early style is based closely on French Romanticism and most of his novels deal with unfulfilled love. His work is distinguished from contemporary Turkish literature by its more concrete form and creates its own artistic language through the use of Persian and Arabic loanwords. In his later years the writer moved to the village of San Stefano near Istanbul. In 1926 when a new law imposed to give a Turkish name to each community he suggested to give to the village its present name of Yesilk�y literally: "Green Village". 1929. unbound. 10 x 8 inches no place December 6 1929. This black-and-white portrait photo shows Halliburton dressed in a suit facing the camera and gazing off to the side. Inscribed: "Especially and gratefully for Veronica Hutchinson Dick Halliburton Dec 6 1929." Small chip and tear in left margin; good condition. American traveler adventurer and author who died at age 39 in an attempt to sail a Chinese junk the Sea Dragon across the Pacific ocean from Hong Kong to the Golden Gate International Exposition in San Francisco a feat that made him legendary. More recent revelations have shown that Halliburton though infatuated with the image of heroic masculinity was an early proponent of Gay Rights. He was romantically linked to film star Ramon Navarro and philanthropist Noel Sullivan. His most enduring relationship was with freelance journalist Paul Mooney with whom he shared living quarters and perished on March 24 1939. unknown
