Un petit volume in-12 de 12 x 18,5 cm pour (ff.) 197 pp. Relié demi-percaline verte, dos à 4 nerfs, ornementation symétrique avec double soulignement de chaque nerf en doré, frises dorées transversales, même motif en coiffe et queue, nom d'auteur à l'entrenerf supérieur et titre à l'entrenerf inférieur, décor original. Plats de couverture marbrés à l'avenant avec des veines colorées remarquables. Gardes colorées aux motifs minéraux sur rivières de bleu et blanc cassé. Tranchefile. Couverture originale conservée. Écrit juste avant la déclaration de la Seconde guerre mondiale, puis publié moins d'un mois après celle-ci, ce livre prétend décrire les réseaux d'influence du Troisième Reich en France pour y recueillir des secrets d'État et y faire passer son propre discours dans les médias. Cette guerre non dite est appelée "guerre blanche" par l'auteur. Si le livre est signé "Paul Allard", un auteur du XIXe siècle mort en 1916 a réellement porté ce nom, qui a plus tard fait l'objet d'une appropriation par Giulio Ceretti, membre fondateur du Parti Communiste italien et auteur du présent livre. Agitateur-journaliste dans l'Hexagone pendant les années 1930, il trouva refuge en URSS pendant la guerre, puis rentra en Italie pour y récolter les bénéfices de la victoire sur l'Axe. Livre agréablement écrit, plutôt à la manière d'un roman que d'un livre d'histoire, qui ne mentionne pas toujours ses sources.

br. La nostra è un'inchiesta, una sorta di indagine calata sul territorio: una ricostruzione che, lo sappiamo bene, non può dirsi completa e neppure in grado di soddisfare tutte le curiosità. Comunque costituisce una onesta, se pur piccola, base documentale che ha come soggetto vicende mai completamente chiarite, all'interno delle quali si sono mosse, in modo ufficiale, ma non solo, persone diverse. Abbiamo operato con onestà intellettuale, impegnandoci semplicemente a raccogliere indizi e tracce per comporre un mosaico sufficientemente vasto e chiaro. In tal modo si intende dare al lettore un quadro globale, una visione d'insieme che tenendo conto delle molteplici sfaccettature proposte, possa illustrare un angolo oscuro della nostra storia. Si consideri poi un ulteriore aspetto: grazie ai notevoli livelli raggiunti dai sistemi d'indagine scientifica, oggi è possibile effettuare analisi che nei decenni passati sarebbero rientrati a pieno titolo nella fantascienza. Forse, nel mare magnum di eventi qui raccolti, ce ne sono alcuni effettivamente degni di essere riportati al cospetto del tribunale della storia.
