Interprete di una cultura tedesca che si nutriva di irrazionalismo, che odiava le dottrine illuministiche e la democrazia, e si ispirava a Spengler, Heidegger, Schopenhauer, Wagner e Nietzsche, il Fu¨hrer sostenne l'ideologia della razza ariana pura ed eroica, che lo porterà al genocidio degli ebrei, e vaneggiò l'illusorio diritto dei tedeschi all'espansionismo illimitato per compiere una missione storica e un fatale destino. Illuso e capace di illudere, con forza magnetica, una nazione fino a condurla all'autodistruzione, bramoso di eternità e artefice del proprio mito, folle, mostro o criminale, Hitler lascia ancor oggi degli interrogativi aperti.
