Sympathique lettre lui annonçant une « rescription [.] de 200 » livres qu'il pourra toucher à La Rochelle et souhaitant qu'il persévère dans les dispositions où il est. « C'est l'unique moyen de vous instruire et de vous rendre utile au service du Roy. Je vous en félicité, et vous fais, avec mes souhaits de bon voyage, mes sincères remerciements des choses obligeantes pour moi dont votre lettre est remplie ». Le chevalier Isle s'embarque en effet sur L'Isis, probablement peu de temps après cette lettre, et y naviguera plus d'un an comme le montre l'autre lettre de Pâris Duverney de décembre 1769. Sympathique lettre au retour du chevalier Isle qui a navigué plus d'un an sur l'Isis, lui annonçant notamment une rescription. « J'apprends avec un véritable plaisir, Monsieur, par la lettre que vous m'avez fait l'honneur de m'écrire le 28 du mois dernier votre heureux retour en France de la longue campagne que vous venez de faire ; et ce qui ajoute encore à ma satisfaction, c'est l'avantage que vous avez eu de ne souffrir aucune incommodité de la mer, ce qui me donne encore l'espérance que vous serez en état de soutenir avec succès le genre de service que vous avez embrassé ». On y apprend ainsi qu'il continue son « instruction » et passera prochainement un examen sur « le cours de M Bézout », le fameux mathématicien du XVIIIe siècle. « Et je désire de tout mon coeur par l'intérêt que je prends à ce qui vous regarde, que vous continuiez de travailler aussi utilement, puisque c'est le plus sur moyen de votre avancement ». Il semble que le chevalier Isle était toujours à La Rochelle. Cette lettre montre bien tout l'intérêt que Paris-Duverney pouvait porter à ses anciens élèves, et en particulier à Isle. Elle est écrite deux mois avant son décès et on sent déjà la signature moins assurée que sur d'autres lettres. [101-2]
