With letterhead of 'Hassa Ordu-yi Humâyûn Dairesi'. In Ottoman Turkish. 1 p. Slightly chipped on folded margins. Otherwise a good manuscript paper. It starts as in elkâb section "Saâdetlü efendim hazretleri" and it goes on as "Hâs Ordu-yi Humâyûna mensûb Birinci Süvâri Firkasi Kumandanligi deruhde olunduk ifâ-yi vâzifeye mübâseret buyurulmasi tevci olunur efendim., Fî sene 27 Rübu'l-evvel [1]327 / ve fî sene 5 Nisan [1]325. ". [i.e. Nazim Pasha wants to take over the task of First Army Commandership]. Hegira: 1325 = Roumi: 1327 = Gregorian: 1909. This letter written in Balkan Peninsula before Balkan Wars (1912-1913). Nazim Pasha was the Minister of War of the Ottoman Empire from 8 January 1912 to 23 January 1913. His father was Circassian Ismail Pasha (Çerkes Ismail Pasa). He joined the war ['93 Harbi = 1877-78 War] as a young officer. Afterwards, he held various positions in the Ottoman armies, especially in Rumelia. He participated in military maneuvers in Russia and France and was later included in the 'Fahr-i Yaverân'. He served as the 2nd Army Command in Edirne during the Constitutional Monarchy period and was briefly appointed as the 1st Army Command in March 31 period. During this period, he was close to Ahrar Party and Prince Sabahattin. Later, the First Balkan War, in which he commanded the Ottoman army as the Commander-in-Chief, failed.

Very Good French Original autograph manuscript letter signed (ALS) 'Ibrahim Edhem'. 18x12 cm. In French. 3 p. on bifolium. To an unnamed recipient, mentioning a Mme. M. Neville, her interest in Egypt, and acknowledging receipt of a parcel. 2 1/2 sides 8vo, no place or date but dated 1839 to the reverse; usual. Ibrahim Edhem Pasha, (1819-1893) was an Ottoman statesman, who held the office of Grand Vizier at the beginning of Abdul Hamid II's reign between 5 February 1877 and 11 January 1878. He resigned from that post after the Ottoman chances of winning the Russo-Turkish War (1877-1878) had decreased. He furthermore served in numerous administrative positions in the Ottoman Empire including minister of foreign affairs in 1856, then ambassador to Berlin in 1876, and to Vienna from 1879 to 1882. He also served as a military engineer and as Minister of Interior from 1883 to 1885. In 1876-1877, he represented the Ottoman Government at the Constantinople Conference. Ibrahim Edhem Pasha was the father of Osman Hamdi Bey, a well-known archaeologist, and painter, as well as the founder of the Istanbul Archaeology Museum and the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. Another son, Halil Edhem Eldem took up the archaeology museum after Osman Hamdi Bey's death and has been a deputy for ten years under the newly founded Turkish Republic. Yet another son, Ismail Galib Bey, is considered as the founder of numismatics as a scientific discipline in Turkey.

Text: "Monsieur le Ministre, Naim Bey, directeur d'une societe coommerciale a Constantinople et son epouse Mevhibe Hanem ainsi que le medecin Ibrahim Bey, directeur et medecin en chef de l'hôpital militaire Chehid Mouhtar, desirant se rendre en Suisse pour une dizaine de jours en vue de regler certaines affaires particulieres qui les concernent. Je prie Votre Excellence de vouloir bien donner a qui de droit les ordres necessaires pour que leur passeport soit vise. Veuillez agreer, Monsieur le Ministre, l'assurance de ma haute cconsideration. Ibrahim Hakki Pasha, (1862-1918), was an Ottoman statesman, who served as Grand Vizier of the Ottoman Empire between 1910-1911. He served as Ottoman ambassador to Germany and to the Kingdom of Italy. Hakki Pasha also spent considerable amounts of time in London between February 1913 and the outbreak of World War I, working on negotiations concerning the Berlin-Baghdad Railway and a settlement for the Second Balkan War. During that visit, Hakki Pasha met with King George VI. He was awarded the Order of Karadorde's Star.

April 1888 in Zürich; auch: Johannes Conrad Kern) war ein Schweizer Jurist und Nationalrat aus dem Kanton Thurgau. Er diente später als schweizerischer Diplomat in Wien und Paris (dort als 'Minister', entspricht 'Botschafter'). Kern ist als einer der bedeutendsten Staatsmänner des 19. Jahrhunderts in die Schweizer Geschichte eingegangen. Er startete seine politische Laufbahn als Kantonsrat von 1832 bis 1853. Neunmal war er Kantonsratspräsident. Von 1832 bis 1852 war er auch im Erziehungsrat. 1837-50 war er Oberrichter und Präsident der kantonalen Justizkommission. Die Gründung der Thurgauer Kantonsschule im Jahr 1853 war ein Verdienst von ihm. Kern war u.a. Redaktor der Bundesverfassung von 1848, erster Präsident des Bundesgerichtes, Mitglied des Nationalrates (1848-54) und des Ständerates (1855-57), Präsident des Nationalrates 1850/51, Schweizerischer Schulratspräsident, Mitbegründer der ETH Zürich und von 1857 bis 1883 Schweizerischer Gesandter in Paris. Als Diplomat zeichnete er sich mehrfach als Friedensstifter aus. Am 150. Jahrestag der Thurtal-Bahnlinie wurde im Mai 2005 ein ICN-Neigezug der SBB auf den Namen Minister Kern getauft. "Johann Conrad Kern, (born June 11, 1808, Berlingen, Thurgau, Switz.-died April 14, 1888, Zürich), longtime Swiss minister to France and one of the authors of the Swiss federal constitution of 1848. A lawyer and doctor of jurisprudence, Kern was, after 1837, the guiding spirit of Thurgau's cantonal government, especially in the administration of justice. As deputy to the national Diet, he was almost alone in opposing (1838) the extradition of Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte, the nephew of Napoleon, who was trying to overthrow the French government. Una larga actuación en el campo diplomático y una firme vocación por promover la enseñanza de las normas del ceremonial y el protocolo caracterizaron la vida del embajador Jorge Gastón Blanco Villalta, escritor e historiador, fallecido en esta ciudad. El miércoles último había cumplido 94 años. Hijo del doctor Jorge Laureano Blanco Villalta - diplomático, médico y escultor - y de Magdalena Ojea, cursó sus estudios primarios y secundarios en México y en Estambul, donde en 1934 comenzó su carrera diplomática como vicecónsul. Graduado en Ciencias Políticas, fue embajador extraordinario y plenipotenciario y concluyó su carrera diplomática como embajador en Turquía. Profesor de ceremonial en el Instituto del Servicio Exterior de la Nación, pasó a retiro en 1976. Blanco Villalta consideraba la práctica del ceremonial un arte singular y una disciplina que tiene su base en las normas de la buena educación. Fruto de su labor docente es el Instituto Argentino de Ceremonial, que lleva su nombre. En 1981 fundó la Academia Argentina de Ceremonial. Sus obras "Ceremonial" y "Ceremonial, una filosofía para el tercer milenio" fueron calificadas como las más importantes y eruditas en esa materia en lengua castellana. Fue autor de una biografía de Kemal Atatürk, traducida al inglés, y de la obra "Conquista del Río de la Plata", un largo poema novelado ilustrado por Raúl Soldi. Desarrolló una intensa vida cultural en distintas instituciones y dedicó gran parte de su actividad intelectual a promover en el país el conocimiento de las civilizaciones orientales.
