Very good. A rare broadsheet calling for New Hampshire representatives to be appointed to the Electoral College for the first presidential election under the Constitution in 1788. On Sept. 13 1788 Congress passed a resolution that electors should be appointed and in response this Nov. 12 act of the New Hampshire legislature declared Dec. 15 as the date to elect the state's representatives to both houses of Congress and to determine its electors for the Electoral College. New Hampshire was the first of the ten states that had ratified the Constitution at this point to hold its federal elections. Brown to whom this letter was addressed was on the Board of Assistant Aldermen for New York City from 1843-44 and was foreman of the grand jury investigating the anomaly.
