Miti, simboli e linguaggi del franchismo
Il volume si propone di offrire una dettagliata rassegna dei simboli e dei linguaggi impiegati nella costruzione della Spagna franchista: a partire dalle canzoni di trincea della Guerra Civile, fino alle produzioni cinematografiche degli anni del declino del regime, attraverso i meccanismi della propaganda e la macchina del terrore. La costruzione del consenso, l'uso politico del trauma collettivo, la fede consegnata alla sfera pubblica: la storia del regime franchista è una storia di simboli ricostruiti, vituperati, recuperati e contesi. Quale lingua parlava il potere franchista? Cosa resta di quella lingua, una volta lasciata indietro la sovrastruttura di distorsioni dei significati, di invenzioni e snaturamento delle parole? Ricostruire l'intreccio di simboli, identità, consenso, trauma e memoria significa affrontare un volto multiforme, nell'eterna riflessione sulla natura e la voce del potere in ogni tempo e luogo. Very Good Turkish, Ottoman (1500-1928) Original very decorative 1/4 leather bdg. Raised bands, ornaments gilded on four compartments of five. Foolscap 8vo. (17 x 12 cm). In Ottoman script. 173 p. Framed text in a style of early 19th century mostly seen in the transition period from manuscripts to the printing. Slightly faded on boards, stains on margins of two pages. Otherwise a very good copy. Harputî Ishak Efendi was a 19th-century statesman and Islamic scholar in the Ottoman Empire. After completing his first education in his hometown, he came to Istanbul and received a license from "Sahn-i Seman Madrasahs" in Fatih, Constantinople. While teaching in Istanbul madrasas, he taught "huzur dersleri" [i.e. the peace lessons] of Sultan Abdulaziz. He continued these lessons for many years as an educator. During the reign of Sultan Abdülhamit II, he was a commission member in the Ministry of Foundations (Waqfs), as a teacher of junior high, and as a qadi of Isparta and Medina. Harputi Ishak was an accomplished theological instructor and writer. In 1861, he published the Sems al-hakikat against Karl Pfander's ideas. During the 1860s he was a teacher at the prestigious Darü'l-Maarif secondary school. Harputî Ishak then rose within the religious scholarly ranks while an instructor at the Fatih Medrese, and he gained the attention of Sultan Abdülaziz. In the 1870s, he held the position of molla, as he was an instructor at the Darü'l-Maarif, and attained the rank of Istanbul payesi (rank of the qadi of Istanbul). His literary ventures had the official sanction and reflected so-called traditionalist views of Sultan Abdulaziz's administration in contrast to Euro-centric reformers such as Ali Pasha. In 1874, he wrote the Kashifu'l-esrâr ve dafiu'l-eshrar, against Bektashism. On the third page of the work, Ishak Efendi stated that he divided the book into three parts. The first part includes Fadlullah el-Hurufi (prophet, or, leader of Hurufism) and the basic principles of Bektashism, the second part, the criticism of Abdülmecid Firisteoglu's work named Isknâme [i.e. The book of light], and third part, the criticism of the views against religion in Câvidânnâme (The sacred book of Hurufis by their leader, Fazlullah). Ishaq says that all Hurufis and Bektashis are the enemies of Islamic religion in his book, which he describes as Hurufi and attacks in this direction. It is not known how many copies of the book written by Ishaq were published in any source, but it is known that the readers and the public of the period were influenced by this Sunni-origin counter-discourse. Washington D.C.: Army Air Forces. 10-18- 1943. Color poster / map 47 x 35 1/2 inches 120 x 90 cm folding as issued now professionally mounted on linen backing. Wear and a little paper loss along the fold lines has been infilled light toning to lower centrefold; the poster presents very well with bright color. Stunning image of a hemispherical view with Japan at the centre encompassing the area from Iran in the west Australia in the south and as far as the west coast of the U.S. at the east of the map. The map maker is F.E. Manning one of the distinguished news illustrators of the war in a style very similar to that of Richard Edes Harrison. There is a scale along the lower edge which was intended to be clipped and used to measure distances of places on the map from Tokyo. Text reads: "This map is a photographic view of the world with the center at Tokyo. Thus with the detachable scale distances can be measured along any line running thru Tokyo. It should be noted that an inch at the center represents less mileage than an inch closer to the edges. The detachable scale has been designed to compensate for this and should be used only with the center at Tokyo. The photographic process used in making this map makes all distances measured with the tape approximate only. Distances are shown in statute miles. Lines between key cities do not represent regular air routes in all cases. They show distances between points that do not fall on a line going thru the center of the projection." The Newsmap posters were displayed in offices and factories to keep the American public updated with news of the war and to encourage their participation in the winning of it. . 1944. JAPANESE PROPAGANDA Asahi Shimbunsha. SAKURA. Volume 6 #2 #31 overall. Large wrappered staple bound illustrated photomagazine in the tradition of FRONT and HOMELIFE. This number published in February of 1944 celebrated the plans for a cross continental railway to cross Eurasia from Tôkyô to Berlin complete with an undersea tunnel from Japan to the mainland. SAKURA magazine was written in English Chinese and French. The whole world seems to lay at the feet of the Axis in this rosy scenario as sketched throughout the magazine. East Asia under the guidance of Imperial Japan is on the march to build a new world. Yet by February of 1944 the Red Army was in Poland and the Ukraine Sevastopol was cut off times were bleak for the 1000 year Reich indeed. Closer to home the Allies had "turned the corner" in the Western Pacific had isolated the large Japanese force at Rabaul and were headed north towards the homeland. At some point during the war reality and appearance began a rapid divergence and as the end approached it became all pure delusion. All of which does not obviate what an amazing visual feast SAKURA is from the covers to the ads a consistent message of normalcy progress and steadfast purpose in a great task. unknown books

Joan of Arc nicknamed "The Maid of Orléans" (French: La Pucelle d'Orléans), is considered a heroine of France for her role during the Lancastrian phase of the Hundred Years' War and was canonized as a Roman Catholic saint. She was born to Jacques d'Arc and Isabelle Romée, a peasant family, at Domrémy in northeast France. Joan claimed to have received visions of the archangel Michael, Saint Margaret, and Saint Catherine of Alexandria instructing her to support Charles VII and recover France from English domination late in the Hundred Years' War. The unanointed King Charles VII sent Joan to the Siege of Orléans as part of a relief army. She gained prominence after the siege was lifted only nine days later. Several additional swift victories led to Charles VII's consecration at Reims. This long-awaited event boosted French morale and paved the way for the final French victory. On 23 May 1430, she was captured at Compiègne by the Burgundian faction, a group of French nobles allied with the English. She was later handed over to the English and put on trial by the pro-English Bishop Pierre Cauchon on a variety of charges. After Cauchon declared her guilty, she was burned at the stake on 30 May 1431, dying at about nineteen years of age. In 1456, an inquisitorial court authorized by Pope Callixtus III examined the trial, debunked the charges against her, pronounced her innocent, and declared her a martyr. In the 16th century, she became a symbol of the Catholic League, and in 1803 she was declared a national symbol of France by the decision of Napoleon Bonaparte. She was beatified in 1909 and canonized in 1920. Joan of Arc is one of the nine secondary patron saints of France, along with Saint-Denis, Saint Martin of Tours, Saint Louis, Saint Michael, Saint Rémi, Saint Petronilla, Saint Radegund and Saint Thérèse of Lisieux. Joan of Arc has remained a popular figure in literature, painting, sculpture, and other cultural works since the time of her death, and many famous writers, playwrights, filmmakers, artists, and composers have created, and continue to create, cultural depictions of her. It includes rich color illustrations showing the social life, industry, educational system, sports, tourism, and social collaboration in Japanese country. Très bon état. C'est au cours de Décembre 1939 ques des artistes de leningrad décident de créer le groupe Fighting Pencil et produisent des affiches de propagande ou des affiches de caricature. Ses membres fondateurs étaient les artistes graphiques Ivan Astapov, Orest Vireysky, Valentin Kirdov, Vladimir Galba, Nikolai Muratov et Boris Semionov. La première affiche collective a été publié sur le sujet de la Guerre d' Hiver contre la Finlande," arbre de Noël..." et entièrement peinte à la main. La première période de la "Bataille des Crayon" a pris fin avec la fin de la guerre avec la Finlande au printemps de 1940. En Octobre 1943, la première exposition du groupe Fighting Pencil s'ouvre à Moscou, dans le All-Union Bibliothèque Lénine. Elle gagne l'attention du public, à la fois à Moscou et à Kouibychev ou l'exposition a été transporté. Après un arrêt de quelques années, le groupe reprend ses activités en 1956. Très bon état. C'est au cours de Décembre 1939 ques des artistes de Leningrad décident de créer le groupe Fighting pencil et produisent des affiches de propagande ou des affiches de caricature. Ses membres fondateurs étaient les artistes graphiques Ivan Astapov, Orest Vireysky, Valentin Kirdov, Vladimir Galba, Nikolai Muratov et Boris Semionov. La première affiche collective a été publié sur le sujet de la Guerre d' Hiver contre la Finlande," arbre de Noël..." et entièrement peinte à la main. La première période de la "Bataille des Crayon" a pris fin avec la fin de la guerre avec la Finlande au printemps de 1940. En Octobre 1943, la première exposition du groupe Fighting Pencil s'ouvre à Moscou, à la Bibliothèque Lénine. Elle gagne l'attention du public, à la fois à Moscou et à Kouibychev ou l'exposition a été transporté. Après un arrêt de quelques années, le groupe reprend ses activités en 1956. Es sind unter anderem folgende Artikel und Überschriften enthalten: "England verletzt Hollands Neutralität", "Dänische Minensperre um Kopenhagen", "Fahrt von Danzig in das Operationsgebiet", "Eine Handvoll deutscher Männer vernichtet ein polnisches Bataillon". Auch vier größere fotografische Abbildungen (Danzig, Westerplatte, Panzereinsatz) sind enthalten.
