However the pouring rain, her wet aching feet, cold wind of Bosphorus, seeing her dreams about the city were not real made her unhappy and she did not love Istanbul. Afterwards Istanbul, with its mosques especially Hagia Sophia (St. Sophia), its Grand Bazaar, Bosphorus and with its all other beauty impressed Doroty Mills. Complete in two 2 volumes as originally issued in 1877 and 1880 Vol. III was issued in 1896 uniformly bound in maroon cloth with black and gilt accents. Minimally ex-library with spine panels clear-coated and with handwritten call numbers repeated on copyright pages in ink dried glue residue on rear fixed endsheets of both volumes. Vol. I spine panel shows 1/2" surface cloth loss at head and 1/4" loss at heel Vol. II with minor loss at both extremities. Corners rubbed most showing modest exposure. Vol. I hinges mended and firm Vol. II hinges intact. Interiors clean typically a bit age-toned. Lincoln collector extraordinaire Lambert 1842-1912 used to send out lists such as this of Lincolniana he lacked; they worked for he ended up with one of the greatest Lincoln collections in existence though a fire in 1906 destroyed part of it. Monaghan records one such 1906 list noting that "a variant was issued earlier" -- apparently he knew of its existence but was unable to locate a copy to record in his bibliography. This is an example of that scarce pre-1906 want list and it consists of a simple single column list of 108 titles. Fascinating to Most uncommon. MONAGHAN 1504 variant. William H. Lambert paperback
