Professor Waterhouse of Washington University St. Louis wrote this book for the State Board of Immigration in order to attract settlers. The attractions include education commerce railroads homesteading on agricultural land liberty and St. Louis "commercial center of North America." 8.5" x 5.75" The final 32 pages of this book are display-type ads for: Rich Farms and Good Homes; North Missouri Railroad; Stock Raising; Fruit Growing; Pacific Railroad of Missouri; Timberland; Mississippi Valley Transportation Company; Hardware; Household Products; Dry Goods & Notions; Carriages; &c.
