The Pioneering Truss Design He Invented For That Instrument's Massive Tube Structure The "Serrurier Truss" Is Still Used Today In Large Telescope Designs. During World War Ii Mark Worked At The Jet Propulsion Laboratory Testing Jet Aircraft Engines. In 1942 Rolf Sabersky Worked In Mechanical Design On The Southern California Cooperative Wind Tunnel Under Serrurier And Hap Richards. After The War In 1946 Mark Took Over As President Of Moviola Co. His Father Iwan'S Company. Mark Re-Designed His Fathers Invention With Many Improvements And Ran The Company Until He Sold It In 1966. In 1979 Mark Accepted A Special Academy Award For Technical Achievement" For The Progressive Development Of The Moviola From The 1924 Invention Of His Father Iwan Serrurier To The Present Series 20 Sophisticated Film Editing Equipment". He Only Accepted After Insisting That His Late Father's Name Would Also Appear On The Statue. Lawyer and judge Garrick Mallery 1784-1866 served in the Pennsylvania legislature from 1827 to 1830 and was chairman of the Committee of Ways and Means when the Bank of Pennsylvania was rechartered in 1830. He was the father of Garrick Mallery 1831-1894 an ethnologist who specialized in Native American sign language. This publication relating to the demise of the Bank of Pennsylvania during the financial panic of 1857-1858 is very scarce. Original corrected 229-page typescript of Manfred's first novel likely used as the setting copy by the publishers Webb Publishing Company of Saint Paul with numerous typographical notes as to typesize fonts picas etc. and also containing many what we assume to be last minute corrections to the text proper by Manfred himself - a couple of hundred instances where the typescript differs from the work as published. Also a 6-page corrected typescript of the copy used for the dust jacket also a setting copy but with no corrections by Manfred. Also page proofs for the same tall 8vo 129 leaves printed on rectos only with extensive annotations throughout by the editior and printer including the amending of a number of words and phrases in the text.
