Frontispiece is an elevation of the garden front of a stable of Fairman Rogers Philadelphia. First edition. The author Robert McClure was a veterinarian from Scotland who settled in Philadelphia and taught at the first veterinary institution in the United States the Veterinary College of Philadelphia. That institution received a charter from the Pennsylvania legislature in 1852 although its founders struggled for some years to establish a school which ceased to exist after 1866. In 1877 McClure was convicted of selling diplomas from the now defunct veterinary college for which he was fined $200 and imprisoned for nine months. As a youth McCreight lived among the Dakota Sioux. He became a trader in bison bones which were sold for fertilizer and which for a while were readily available. He was befriended by Buffalo Bill Cody. He became an ardent friend to Native Americans but particularly to the Sioux nation. He was made an honorary chief of the tribe as Chief Tchanta Tanka or Cante Tanke Later as a banker in Pennsylvania he did much to promote the causes of the Native Americans and helped his friend Theodore Roosevelt to create the park system. This work is an account both of his reading about the American buffalo and his experiences with it. hardcover

Grand Junction Colorado: Rolling Tomes Inc 2003. 30 issues in all includes On the Tracks nos. 1-24 complete but without the final issue of March 2003; plus 7 annual "Collector's Issues" but without the final undated Collector's Issue - see below; 4to approx. 11" x 8½" each issue of On the Tracks generally about 60 pages Collector's Issues generally about 24 pages; the former illustrated throughout with much in color; the latter mostly unillustrated with text in quadruple column; original printed wrappers; generally fine throughout. "At first there were 3 issues a year of On the Tracks that were sent in February June and September; then a 4th issue was sent in November called 'Collector's Issue': it was actually just a catalogue of what was available for sale through Rolling Tomes . Though there is a gap in the numeration between Vol 10 #2 and Vol 11 #3 this is a complete set and the 'missing issues' do not seem to exist . This fanzine looked more like a music magazine. Illustrated by never-before published photographs it was professionally produced by Mick and Laurie McCuiston from their home in Grand Junction Colorado. Their address was well known by Dylan collectors in the 90's as they also ran Rolling Tomes the goldmine where you could easily order any official Dylan stuff: magazines dylanzines books -out of print and new- sheet music songbooks tour programmes posters but also T-shirts buttons cassettes records and videos . Long time before Amazon and selling Dylan stuff was a then a full time job for Mick and Laurie . Due to Mick's severe health problems they had to stop the publication see comewritersandcriticsdotcom. It offered a "comprehensive news coverage on concert dates TV appearances album releases new books gossip etc." The publication of Series of Dreams started in July 1993 and ended in 2003; it was monthly sent untill May 1995 issue #23. The book and its contents are in generally clean bright condition. The book covers have fading and rubbing especially by the spine and spine joints. The text pages are clean and bright. There is a previous owner's address label on the front pastedown page underneath which is the advertisement by the author of the poem. This thin book of poetry was most likely issued as a fundraiser for the first Presbyterian church erected in Los Gatos California. Mr. McGrew was an "ardent Presbyterian and elder in the Santa Clara Church" who helped organize and raise funds for a church to be built in Los Gatos. Not only did he help to organize the interested parties and work on committees he was instrumental in procuring and installing the church bell. From the church history pages on line - "The church bell was procured by subscription primarily through the efforts of Mr. G. W. McGrew and was installed in the belfrey." from the Church website .
