An early apparently the first entry in the "Seeing America with Bobby and Betty Series" which eventually included the San Francisco Exposition Washington D.C. and two entries for the New York World's Fair. Thus not to be confused with the later "A Trip to the New York World's Fair with Bobby and Betty" 1938 by Grover Whalen as told to Elsie-Jean revised and re-issued in 1940 as "Fun at The Fair: A Trip to the New York World's Fair of 1940 with Bobby and Betty." The present volume issued in 1936 is among Thomas's scarcer publications most notable now less as a children's introduction to the city than for its many photographs from Underwood & Underwood and other sources difficult to locate otherwise straying considerably beyond the touristy meccas such as the Statue of Liberty to include wonderful images of Chinatown and a pushcart market on Orchard Street. Cover cloth is a bit faded and a bit unevenly but overall presents with only light shelf wear mildly tanned spine panel and endsheets all typical of issue. Raised bands. Spine slightly marred. Hardbound. William 'Just Plain Bill' Sulzer (1863-1941) was a U.S. Congressional Representative from New York between 1895 and 1912. With the backing of Tammany Hall, he became the Governor of New York on January 1, 1913. He soon annoyed Tammany's leader 'Boss' Charles F. Murphy by refusing to accept his guidance on appointments and nominations, ordering investigations of corruption in state agencies, and other similar actions. Tammany politicians brought false charges against him for diverting some campaign contributions to his own use and, with a legislative majority, they made the charges stick. He was impeached and removed from office on October 13, 1913. With Reformers like Thomas leading the fight, he was essentially vindicated, being elected to the New York State Assembly less than a month later. Thomas was deeply involved in Reform Politics, and was the Commonwealth Land candidate for Justice of New York Supreme Court 1st District in 1924. AMERICANA BOX 11

Kennedy this book received wide aclaim when first published in 1967. It makes strong arguments that the sequence of events as the Warren Commission reported them were in error that the President was under fire from more than one direction and also makes several arguments regarding Lee Harvey Oswald's role in the events that day. The author Josiah Thompson was an investigative reporter working for Time-Life on the assassination and during his tenure for them had several opportunities to view a first-generation copy of the Zapruder film. He based his conclusions in the book at least four shots at least two shooters among others on a detailed study he performed on stills from the film. He was denied permission from Time-Life to publish copies of the stills in this original hardcover edition and had to rely on hand-drawn copies to support the points he makes in the book. This book is still accepted as one of the serious studies as opposed to the many sensationalist books of the assassination. Its conclusions and arguments have stood the test of time for over four decades and is considered a must-read among those interested in learning about the assassination. . SET OF FOUR ARCHITECTURAL DRAWINGS Design for Union Railway Station Indianapolis Aug. 16th 1886
Pittsburgh PA: Thomas Rodd 1886. Paper. Very Good. Unbound. A set of four original architect's plans on translucent white architectural paper for the construction of the Indianapolis Union Railway Station. The plans are 1. Front Elevation North 24 2/8" w x 30 1/4" w. 2. Design A. 1st Floor Plan22" h x 33 5/8" w 3. Design A. 2nd Floor Plan 22" h x 33 1/2" h. and 4. Showing Elevation of Interior Pier 1/2 Elevation 1/2 Section and Plans of A.A. B.B. C.C. D.D. F.F.29 3/4" h x 25" w. The Front Elevation and the 4th plan with "Tho's. Rodd Engr. & Arch.t Pittsburgh PA" lower left the 1st and 2nd Floor Plans unsigned. Overall a Very Good set general soiling and wrinkling small chips at edges. Front Elevation North plan with red ink "Note: The Red Lines Show Corrected Grades Oct. 20th 1886". All four plans with red ink additions the 2nd Floor plan with blue ink additions as well. The Indianapolis Union Railway Station was built in 1888 to replace the 1853 station which was the first "union" station ever built and its red brick and granite Grand Hall is renowned as one of the finest Romanesque Revival-styled structures in America. It was restored beginning in 1983 and today houses the Crowne Plaza Hotel which features thirteen 1920's Pullman cars converted into hotel suites. London-born Pittsburgh architect and engineer Thomas Rodd 1849-1929 later became a Chief Engineer for the Pennsylvania Railroad West of Pittsburgh. He was responsible for the design and construction of many buildings in western Pennsylvania and the Midwest.
