In the 1860's The Reciprocity Treaty of 1854 had become unpopular in the 1860's in the United States as reflected in the arguments put forward in this publication as was abrogated by the United States in 1866. Being a joint resolution of the United States Congress as approved by the President on the 18th of January 1865 notice was given to the British that the Reciprocity Treaty of 1854 would be terminated. The document reproduces seventeen letters and enclosures exchanged between the two countries during the twelve month period leading up to the expiration date of the treaty. 1866 unknown
