A really good source for less well knownperspectives on American History of the period. Rather uncommon. Volume XXVIII New Series Vol. VI May 1884 to October 1884. Volume LVII New Series Vol. XXXV. ;November 1898to April1899. The Century Magazine was first published in the US in 1881 succeeding Scribner's Monthly Magazine. Its content written by numerous contributors included illustrated history articles matters of recent interest and literature. Its American Civil War series included contributions by generals and over 200 Northern and Southern participants of all ranks. It ceased publication in 1930. Condition: Each volume is in its original cloth binding with gilt lettering to the spines. Externally both volumes are sound though with some very light rubbing. Some light straining to the rear hinge of the second volume and both hinges to the first volume are tender. Internally both volumes are firmly bound and bright though with the odd spot and handling mark. Bookseller's ink stamp to the front free endpaper of the first volume. Century Company. Very Good. 1889. Leather Bound. This is a pretty nice copy. Full leather with ribbed spine gilt lettering on cover and spine in nice condition marbled textblock edges. Occasional light mark on the boards foredge of spine near the bottom has a few scuffs in the leather bit of corner wear. Contents are clean and unmarked.
