Eines von 60 geplanten Exemplaren. Die Lithographie entstand in freier Nachempfindung der Gemälde ?Fenêtre sur la Ville? von 1910 und ?Les Fenêtres simultanées sur la Ville? von 1911.‎

‎Robert Victor Félix Delaunay wird am 2. April 1885 in Paris geboren. Der französische Maler beginnt von 1902- 1904 eine Lehre als Theaterdekorateur. Seine frühen Arbeiten sind noch geprägt vom ?Neoimpressionismus? eines Georges Seurats (1859-1891) oder Henri Edmond Cross (1856-1910). Zwischen 1906 und 1909 macht Robert Delaunauy die Bekanntschaft von Jean Metzinger (1883-1956), Henri Rousseau (1844-1910) und Sonja Uhde-Terk (1885-1979), seiner späteren Ehefrau. Angeregt durch die Kunst Paul Cézannes (1839-1906) entstehen einige sakrale Arbeiten in expressiv gebrochenen Formen (von 1908-1909), in deren Folge sich die Bildkompositionen Robert Delaunays mehr und mehr kubistisch zerlegen. In dieser kurzen, vom Kubismus beeinflussten Phase von 1910-1912, entsteht die Serie der ?Stadt-Bilder? mit dem Eiffelturm als zentrales Motiv z. B. ?Die Stadt Paris?, von 1910-1912, heute im Musée National d?Art Moderne, Paris. Mit der Serie ?Fenster-Bilder? (?Les Fenêtres?, 1912-1913) und den ?Kreisformen? (?Formes Circulaires?, ab 1913) beginnt Robert Delaunay mit der reinen und abstrakten Malerei, deren Bildkomposition sich aus Farbkontrasten ergibt. Ausgangspunkt ist dabei das lichtdurchflutete Fenster, in dem sich das gegenständliche Motiv in die Spektralfarben zu geometrischen, und scheinbar energetisch bewegten Formen aufbricht. In den zwanziger Jahren arbeitet er zusammen mit seiner Frau Sonja Delaunay-Terk an Bühnenbildern für das ?Ballets russes? und für dadaistische Theaterstücke. Zwischen 1930-1938 beginnt er wieder mit der Malerei und übernimmt auf der Pariser Weltausstellung 1937 die Dekoration im Pavillon der Eisenbahn und der Luftfahrt. Im Jahr 1940 flieht er nach Südfrankreich und stirbt am 25. Oktober 1941 in Montpellier.‎
