Epinal France: Ch. Pellerin 1870s. Hand-colored broadside lithograph 15.5" x 11.5". Losses on three side affecting images and text. Two halves separated along center and mounted on paper. Printed in France. Originally conceived in 1796 by Jean-Charles Pellerin in his native village of pinal Vosges the images d'pinal were inexpensive woodcuts and lithographs of religious and historical content intended for the common consumer. During the Napoleonic wars these images became extremely popular as Pellerin's printing house Imagerie d'pinal cornered the market on commemorative historical prints. During the Great War the traditional style of these prints appealed to French artists looking to show their patriotism as in the eyes of an increasingly anti-German public the image d'pinal came to represent a distinctly French product unmarred by foreign influence. The prints had a further appeal in that their minimalist form allowed many artists to stay true to the modernist ideals of their time. Epinal, France: Ch. Pellerin, [1870s] unknown

19TH CENTURY JUVENILE LITERATURE
The Two Bogies. The Real Bogie and the Unreal Bogie. A Tale of Conscience.
London.: Darton and Clark. No date. Ca. 1848. Juvenile book 6.25 x 5 inches; 24 pp; stiff paper covers; front cover embossed. Text on front cover identifies the book as one in the series Greens Fireside Stories. The slim book has three-hole string-binding but also a later stitched binding along the spine. There is a color wood-engraved frontispiece or plate. It would appear from other WorldCat listings pertaining to this series that a second color illustration is called for but no longer present in this volume. Indeed common sense suggests that if one Bogie is illustrated the second would be similarly represented. Overall a juvenile book evidently prized by its original owners but reflecting heavy usage over the one hundred sixty plus years. . Darton and Clark. unknown

19th Century French Artist
Thtre des Folies-Bergre. Chambre rustique Depose No. 5.
Nancy France: Delhalt 1890s. Large format color broadside Bilderbogen 16" x 11". Good. Some wrinkling on edges and two quarter-inch tears in margins not affecting image. Text in French. Nancy, France: Delhalt, [1890s] unknown

19th Century German Artist
Zndnadeln. No. 5
Berlin: W. Reuter's Druckerei 1871. Large format broadside Bilderbogen 20" x 24". Good. Repaired with tape on verso. Text in German. Scarce. [Berlin]: W. Reuter's Druckerei, [1871] unknown
