The central image is of a Wild Thing with a headdress of iconic New York landmarks the Chrysler Building Statue of Liberty Twin Towers etc. poking its head and claws from its yellow background foreward into a blue border filled with Sendak's characteristic white stars. Below this text in large yellow and white type promote's Sendak's holiday windows at the 55th Street Sony store. Small type at the lower right presents copyright information. The dimensions of the central panel of this poster are 11 1/2" x 10" and a great deal of the Wild Thing's image protrudes from its frame. The spangled blue border is 4" on the top 9" on the bottom and 3 1/4" on the side. This piece is in pristine condition . . Not Attributed unknown

English language text. A complete run for the three year period in three 3/4 leather volumes. Includes 3 additional engraved title pages 77 engraved plates of which 5 are colored. Lacking only the plate Amorous Conflagration in Vol I. Plates are generally of well dressed Lords and Ladies in sexually oriented pursuits. Such titles as "The Skittish Wife and the Patrician Rough Rider" "The Lord and the Engaging Matron" "A Leicestershire Amour" often refer to specific personages. The latter has lightly penciled in at the bottom "Mary Elisa wife of The Rev. Calverts John Crewick sp ". Very occasional scattered foxing contents VG. Boards rubbed and spines worn but volumes are sound and tight. An interesting social documentary of the thoughts mores and dalliances of the day. Variously paginated about 600 pp per volume. The next to the final blank end paper has paper loss to lower rt corner about 2.5x3". TIROCINIUM bound with THE TASK and so noted on title page is relatively scarce. A sound and complete copy. Apparently the first American edition although there is some debate amongst bibliographers. This Cowper's most important collection includes 'TABLE TALK' 'THE PROGRESS OF ERROR' 'TRUTH' and the other satires . THE TASK was written upon the recommendation of his friend and neighbour Lady Austen. Occasional light pencil marks with a few penciled numbers on front free blank. Leather full tan calf bound hard cover edition with silk marker ribbon sometimes missing six compartment spine blank creme colored end papers covers bordered in gilt gilding on spine is quite readable. There were about 60 of these published over the approximate years of 1776 to 1888. They averaged about 200 pages in length. This is NOT the Elibron Classics reprint but the original leather bound 18th century issue. They had an engraved frontis and some had other plates as well . Clean throughout with no writing. Although rarely described in all of these Apollo volumes the glue used in binding has darkened the edges of the covers and offset somewhat to the outer edges of the first blank endpaper.
