‎Édition originale rare complète de son errata. Le général de Romanet du Caillaud (1748-1811) avait fait un séjour à la Martinique de 1769 à 1773 avec le Régiment de Périgord. Dans sa préface, il explique que ses observations ont gardé tout leur intérêt dans la mesure où ces îles n'ont pas été touchées par la tourmente révolutionnaire. L'ouvrage est divisé en 12 chapitres ; il ne s'agit pas que d'observations strictes mais également de réflexions sur notamment le devenir des colonies et sur le commerce. Le chapitre VIII concerne les esclaves ; Intitulé « Des Nègres », il commence en ces termes : « Ces hommes précieux, sans lesquels l'Amérique serait sans culture, et aux bras dont les nations de l'Europe doivent leur expansion et leur puissance, doivent être aujourd'hui employés avec le plus de ménagement possible…. » (page 108). Suivi de Mémoires critiques sur l'Orient,…., Paris. Chez l'auteur. (Valence, imprimerie de J. Marc Aurel) 1845. Frontispice lithographié, faux titre et titre, IV+213 p. Relation d un voyage effectué en 1841, l'édition originale italienne fut publiée à Corfou en 1844. Ensemble de réflexion sur les différents pays que l auteur a connu, on y trouve des informations, anecdotes et considérations.‎

‎Édition originale recherchée de cette relation éditée par Jean-Benjamin de Laborde, à partir des journaux de Saugnier qui, suite à un naufrage, devint esclave au Maroc pendant 6 mois et l'année suivante se rendit au Sénégal et se livra au commerce et à la traite des Noirs. Les deux premières parties sont consacrées aux voyages de Saugnier, la troisième porte sur le commerce du Sénégal avec des considérations sur les objets nécessaires à la traite en rivière, les articles de verroterie, les frais de coutumes, la manière de traiter les esclaves.
