l'articolo diLEYDI occupa solo 4 pagine (dal '. 785 a p. 7889 ma segnala e spiega la funzione del CNSMP fondato nel 1948 da Giorgio Nataletti, sotto gli auspici dell'Accademia di Santa Cecilia e della RAI, in risposta alla crescente domanda del mondo scientifico di realizzare un istituto di ricerca in linea con gli analoghi istituti internazionali esistenti. Fino agli anni '60 l'istituto era stato il principale punto di riferimento per molti intellettuali italiani (afferenti all'area politica della sinistra progressista) impegnati in indagini di tipo sociale e nello studio della cultura popolare principalmente dell'Italia meridionale e della Sardegna[2]. Nel 1972 dopo la morte di Nataletti le attività del CNSMP si interruppero. Nel 1973 Diego Carpitella promosse il Primo convegno sugli studi etnomusicologici italiani a cui parteciparono musicologi, antropologi, rappresentanti di musei e archivi che si concluse con una mozione nella quale, tra le altre cose, si auspicava una immediata ripresa delle attività del Centro Studi.[3] Ma solo nel 1984, quando Carpitella divenne membro del Consiglio Accademico dell'A.N. di Santa Cecilia, vi fu una mobilitazione per la completa ripresa delle attività del Centro Studi. E lo stesso anno ne organizzò il riassetto e progettò la classificazione sistematica e l'indicizzazione computerizzata delle consistenti registrazioni presenti nell'archivio.[4] Nel 1989 Carpitella fu nominato conservatore del CNSMP ne cambiò la denominazione in quella attuale (Archivi di etnomusicologia) Lo spesso fasc. in-8° (cm. 24x15,8), cartoncino edit., è completo delle sue 217 pagine e contiene inoltre saggi anche corposi su TARTINI, vocalità al tempo di Pier Francesco TOSI, MONTEVERDE a Salò, data di CHOPIN op. 22, STRAWINSKY, musica sacra e regìa liturgica, consumo musicale in Italia.

Un viaggio alla scoperta di un patrimonio di cultura popolare Questo libro si dedica all'interpretazione dei gesti e dei modi di dire dei napoletani, nell'intento di contribuire a far riflettere sulla saggezza e la fantasia del popolo. In effetti, la lingua dei gesti assume a Napoli le forme più sorprendenti e curiose, con sfumature che caratterizzano i più avanzati profili della comunicazione non verbale. Il "non detto" parla con svariate modalità: si esprime con il volto, con qualche cenno della testa, con i movimenti delle mani, con la postura del corpo, con il tono della voce; le parole sono accompagnate da una gestualità enfatizzata, da portamenti specifici, da un uso modulato della voce che svela ogni volta contenuti simbolici. Per il napoletano il gesto va condito e arricchito spesso con un motto, un aforisma, un proverbio, un wellerismo. I modi di dire non sono però solo un'altra maniera di esprimersi, piuttosto sono un contributo al discorso, una tecnica per arricchirlo. Così, gesti e modi di dire sono finiti nella letteratura, sono diventati oggetto di studi di sociologia, di antropologia, di dialettologia e di storia delle tradizioni popolari.
