brossura I proverbi, in generale, hanno una valenza universale, perché sono frutto di quell'atavica saggezza popolare che rappresenta, a qualsiasi latitudine del nostro pianeta, quel complesso dei principi e delle norme che regola il vivere quotidiano. Qualche volta, invece, hanno un taglio e un significato esclusivamente localistici, solo perché introducono ed esplicano concezioni, costumi, modi e regole che si attagliano soltanto alla specificità di un popolo meravigliosamente unico e speciale. Quelli siciliani, in particolare, sono forse più ricchi di sfumature lessicali perché risentono nella loro formazione di un miscuglio di linguaggi e culture diverse. Ciò avviene a causa delle molte popolazioni che, attraverso secoli di dominazioni straniere, si sono succedute e stratificate nella nostra isola; popolazioni di origini fenicie, greche, arabe, romane, bizantine, barbare e normanne, ognuna delle quali ha contribuito a contaminare la cultura, la lingua e le tradizioni degli abitanti indigeni della nostra isola. La speranza di chi scrive è che questo libello possa capitare nelle mani di giovani lettori e l'augurio personale è che in essi possa scoccare la scintilla della passione per il dialetto assieme alla curiosità di scoprire quel retaggio storico che costituisce sempre il riferimento sicuro per poter guardare al futuro con consapevolezza.

La speranza di chi scrive è che questo libello possa capitare nelle mani di giovani lettori e l'augurio personale è che in essi possa scoccare la scintilla della passione per il dialetto assieme alla curiosità di scoprire quel retaggio storico che costituisce sempre il riferimento sicuro per poter guardare al futuro con consapevolezza.

This collection of over 30 storeys legends and folktales reflect the season around Easter and early summer in the northern hemisphere. For younger children folktales from all around the world illustrate at a deeper in imaginative level the theme of sacrifice and the triumph of love and loyalty over adversity.
