With 16 of 17 wood engraved plates including one fold out plate representing Ingeborg's arm-ring and 12 musical accompaniments. Tear on fold out plate neatly sealed. Large ink inscription on front flyleaf dated 1961. Original publisher's cloth very worn especially around the edges and faded. Joints of the spine have worn away but the book is still solid in its binding due to its being bound in the Bradel style. Esaias Tegner 1782-1846 was the most popular of the Swedish romantic poets. His "Frithiof's Saga" first published 1825 "was based on collections of Scandinavian sagas and is considered the masterpiece of Swedish Gothic tradition."
