br. Il "Discorso sulla licantropia" di Jean Beauvoys de Chauvincourt risale al 1599. L'opera, anche se oggi si crede che il "loup-garou" sia soltanto un'invenzione del cinema, resta un documento insostituibile per capire le credenze sul "lupo-umano" agli inizi dell'era moderna. Beauvoys de Chauvincourt ci restituisce quel che il suo tempo credeva del licantropo, rivelando ancestrali credenze ai suoi contemporanei, soggetti a una forma di ossessione collettiva. A noi, semplicemente, ricorda le trasformazioni a cui sono soggetti gli uomini: anche nell'era della tecnologia più avanzata esse avvengono e ogni giorno lo constatiamo. Il "loup-garou" modificava la propria natura, noi diventiamo altri lupi per i nostri simili. Un tempo si azzannava, oggi si colpisce per sopravvivere: è questa la regola che ci insegnano i tempi di crisi.
