‎Ein gutes und sauberes Exemplar. - Herzog Johann Albrecht zu Mecklenburg-Schwerin war von 1907 bis 1913 Regent des Landes Braunschweig und über Jahrzehnte Präsident der Deutschen Kolonialgesellschaft. Eine siebenmonatige Hochzeitsreise mit seiner zweiten Frau Elisabeth führte ihn unter anderem nach Siam, Indonesien und Japan, zu jener Zeit noch ein abenteuerliches Unternehmen. Aufgrund des Interesses des Herzogs an außereuropäischen Kulturen überreichten ihm sowohl die fürstlichen Gastgeber als auch Menschen aus der Bevölkerung und dort ansässige Europäer zahlreiche Geschenke. Zusätzlich kaufte das Brautpaar bei Handwerkern, Händlern, auf Märkten und in Verkaufsausstellungen ein. Insgesamt brachte der Herzog über 1000 Erinnerungsstücke mit nach Hause, von denen er etwa die Hälfte dem Städtischen Museum Braunschweig überließ. Diese Sammlung mit ihren wertvollen völkerkundlichen Kunstwerken, schlichten Alltagsgeräten und Kuriositäten erzählt ihre eigene Geschichte und vermittelt zugleich interessante Einblicke in die Sammlermentalität zu Beginn des 20. ‎Zustand: Pappeinband mit Schutzumschlag, sehr guter Zustand --- Inhalt: Ein halbes Jahrhundert lang lagerte Frida Kahlos per sönliche Garderobe unangetastet in einer versiegelten Kammer in der "Casa Azul", ihrem letzten Wohnhaus in Coyoacán. Als sie 1954 starb, hatte ihr Mann Diego Rivera verfügt, Fridas Ankleidezimmer für 50 Jahre verschlossen zu halten. 2004 war es soweit: Türen, Schränke und Schubladen durften geöffnet werden, und was zum Vorschein kam, übertraf alle Erwartungen. Mehr als 200 wunderschöne Kleider, allesamt traditionelle mexikanische Trachten, Tücher, Kopfbedeckungen, Schmuck und Schuhe fanden sich hier neben Prothesen, Stützkorsetts und Arzneien. Man kennt beides aus Fridas Gemälden, die Korsagen, die ihre zerstörte Wirbelsäule zusammenhielten, und die bodenlangen farbenprächtigen Gewänder, die sie mit einem gewissen Nationalstolz, aus Liebe zur Volkskunst des alten Mexiko trug und die gleichzeitig ihre Gebrechen kaschierten. Fridas bald viel kopierte Art sich zu kleiden, war Teil ihrer schillernden Persönlichkeit und ihrer Kunst. Mit viel Aufwand wurden die kostbaren Stücke in den letzten Jahren liebevoll restauriert und jetzt der Öffentlichkeit präsentiert.
