Each folk costume is accompanied by a brief text. The book is organized under five regional headings each of which is preceded by a color map of the area. Discoloration to front and rear covers scuffing and short tear to spine. Cards overall in very good condition with a handful showing wear. Maps in excellent condition. An uncommon and complete collection. The introduction explains that traditional German peasants' dress was though colorful influenced less by fashion than by climate and work requirements while also reflecting the "soul of the people". Now in this time of radio and aeroplanes people look back on old costumes with curiosity.
