Hylas ist eine Figur der griechischen Mythologie Er war der jugendliche und sehr schöne Freund des Herakles, den er beständig begleitete. Hylas blieb als Waffenträger bei Herakles, als dieser sich den Argonauten anschloss. Gemeinsam suchten sie nach dem Goldenen Vlies.

Orné de 22 illustrations dans le texte d'après des oeuvres d'art dont 6 vignettes en couleurs appliquées, nombreux dessins dans le texte et 48 lithographies en couleurs hors texte, d'après les gouaches d'Edy Legrand.
