Schwartz der schon Einführung in Perl bei O'Reilly publiziert hat macht es einem besonders leicht die ersten Hürden zum Erlernen von "the perl way" ohne Stolpern zu nehmen. Nun zeichnen sich ja fast alle Perl-Bücher von O'Reilly durch gute Lesbarkeit und einigen Spaß aus und auch die Sprache selbst macht es Anfängern durchaus leicht schnell Erfolge mit lauffähigen Programmen zu erzielen. Wer Einführung in Perl und Einführung in Perl-Objekte durchgearbeitet hat ist erstens fit für sein erstes Projekt und wird zweitens danach von Programmieren mit Perl und den vertiefenden Spezialthemen profitieren.
