‎Extract du manuscrit trouvé apres la mort de Monsieur de Duc Daumalle en son Cabinet, iceluy estant signé de sa main, pour aprobation d'iceluy, & cacheté de ses armes.‎

‎1616, Petit in-4, demi-vélin à coins, dos orné au petit fer doré, roulette et fleurs de lys alternées, daté en queue 1615, pièce de titre de maroquin tabac.‎

‎Libelle très rare tentant de prouver que le véritable assassin du roi était D'Espernon. Le duc de Mombason, qui se trouvait dans le carrosse, affirme avoir vu ledit d'Espernon sortir un couteau et le planter dans le ventre du roi. Une note manuscrite en début de volume précise qu'il est probable que la Demoiselle Compans "qui a été tenue au secret plus de quatorze ans à la Bastille avait reçu le jour même de l'attentat les confidences du duc de Momntbasoné. Le Duc D'Aumalle avait dû faire pression sur ce dernier pour ne pas exciter la fureur publique."Cette pièce rare a servi à l'édition du tome XV du Trésor des pièces rares, publié en 1858, Paris, Chez Auguste Aubry.Un bel exemplaire dans une agréable reliure en vélin doré XIXe (circa 1860).‎

"Le 14 mai 1610, à quelques centaines de mètres du Louvre, rue de la Ferronnerie, Henri IV est poignardé dans son carrosse, victime des coups de couteau portés par François Ravaillac. L'assassinat plonge aussitôt les habitants dans une grande peur, perceptible dans les décisions politiques et militaires des municipalités qui placent leurs villes en état de siège, palpable dans le huis clos des livres de raison où les auteurs laissent sourdre leur inquiétude extrême du temps présent. La Grande Peur dure quatre à cinq semaines. Elle suscite une poussière de troubles en province, avant de refluer et de s'évanouir, contenue grâce aux décisions du pouvoir royal, des magistrats urbains et royaux et des citoyens, qui tous manifestent leur attachement à la tolérance civile et aux édits de pacification. Car le pays a fait le choix de la paix civile. Un choix de raison qui suggère l'adhésion des Français au processus d'une pacification encore fragile, une dizaine d'années à peine après la fin officielle des troubles civils et religieux qui ensanglantèrent la seconde moitié du XVIe siècle. Aucune étude n'avait encore envisagé le retentissement de l'événement à l'échelle du royaume et auprès des Français. Fondé sur une documentation archivistique considérable et en partie inédite, ce livre propose pour la première fois une vision panoptique de la circulation de la nouvelle dans le pays ; il analyse les modalités de sa transformation en une information politique et l'impact de sa connaissance auprès de la population ; il dévoile le rôle fondamental des médiateurs locaux du politique, qui usent de leur position stratégique entre le pouvoir royal, curial, central, parisien, et les communautés citadines du royaume, pour retenir l'information, la manipuler, voire la travestir au moment de sa publication.
